The Garmin nüvi 1490T is a European sat nav with an extra wide 5-inch screen. It includes pan-European premium traffic alerts, Bluetooth® wireless technology for hands-free phone calls and ecoRoute™ to calculate a more fuel-efficient route. The nüvi 1490T has advanced multi-point route planning – ideal for longer journeys or trips with several stop-offs on the way.

For supreme route awareness it features PhotoReal™ Junction View which displays images of junctions that look so real they even show the pylons and landscaping.

Lifetime traffic alerts

Get traffic alerts, subscription-free, for life with the nüvi 1490T. Garmin's traffic alert service tells you where the congestion is, how long you'll be held up, and suggests alternative routes so you can choose to avoid the tailbacks.

After you tap on the traffic icon on the display, you will see a map detailing the traffic problem and how far ahead it is from your current location.

Plan ahead

The nüvi 1490T includes advanced navigation features to take the worry out of travelling. With route planning you can save 10 routes, specify via points and preview simulated turns on the nüvi 1490T's large screen. In addition, nüvi 1490T automatically sorts multiple destinations to provide an efficient route for errands, multi-drop deliveries or sales calls. A trip log provides an electronic bread-crumb trail of up to 10,000 points, so you can see exactly where you've been on the map.

Navigating tricky junctions has never been easier. Garmin's exclusive PhotoReal Junction View shows actual junctions that have been digitised to display incredible detail, even down to trees and pylons. Lane Assist shows the correct lane choice for upcoming junctions and motorway exits – so there's no need to make last-minute lane changes, even on unfamiliar routes.

Keep your eyes on the road and both hands on the wheel with nüvi 1490T's integrated Bluetooth wireless technology, microphone and speaker. Just pair with your compatible mobile phone and talk hands-free through the sat nav. Moreover, the text-to-speech feature provides clearly spoken driving instructions so you can give all your attention to road conditions.

Speed cameras

Garmin has a unique, pan-European speed camera warning system, giving real-time, reliable, and accurate alerts. The nüvi 1490T has the location of fixed, average speed, mobile and temporary cameras already built in. New or moved cameras are constantly tracked and the database is updated regularly.

Where am I? safety feature

The Where am I? safety feature can be very helpful if you break down or need a certain service urgently. Just tap your vehicle icon on the map screen for your exact coordinates, and get contact details for vehicle recovery services or directions to hospitals, police and petrol stations.

The Where am I? feature can be used in an emergency to get you to the nearest hospital, petrol station or police station.

Go green and save fuel

The ecoRoute fuel-saver feature enables you to choose a fuel-efficient route which could save you fuel and money. Simply choose the 'less fuel' option and nüvi 1490T will calculate the route which will use the least fuel. You can also see the estimated cost of your journey as you plan it and get scored for your driving performance with the Driving Challenge – good for identifying areas for improvement.
