This battery is compatible with a few Garmin devices, if you're looking for an extra battery for a Garmin Virb action camera this is the one to get. According to the Garmin site it's also compatible with the Montana 600, Montana 650, Montana 650t and Monterra although I've not checked that myself.

There's not much else to say about the battery aside from it's a reasonable cost for a genuine battery from the manufacturer rather than the frequently ridiculous prices manufacturers charge for batteries. I've had no issues using it with a Virb Elite and performance is the same as the original battery as you'd expect.

I've only had it a few months so I can't comment on how long the battery will function, before needing recycled, but as a product, it does what it needs to do - it powers my VIRB so it deserves the 5 stars.

From my experience though, my challenge would be do you really need to spend around £25 on a spare battery? I bought mine when I bought my VIRB on the basis of planned weekend trips in a sea kayak where I wouldn't be able to recharge between use. However, to date I have never had to change a battery in anger as the battery life filming is around 3 hours. With the benefit of hindsight:

- For a weekend trip with say 9 hours filming a day, I'd need six batteries. With one supplied with the VIRB this would cost around £125 (and be a really boring film)
- The batteries need stored in watertight conditions on a trip (ignoring the sea, how often does it rain in UK?) to avoid risk of water damage which also makes it more difficult to access them on the go
- Changing a battery takes little time, but opening the back to change the battery in wet conditions risks damaging both old and new batteries, plus the VIRB

Instead I've found that I am simply more selective of the scenes I film (though I do miss a lot of unexpected situations such as freak 15 foot waves suddenly appearing on an otherwise calm day paddling). However, the selective approach does mean that three hours filming in a day is still hard to achieve and one battery normally lasts a weekend.

If you want to get lots of footage that you can edit down, then the extra battery makes sense (but you'll probably need more than one). As weekend trips tend to be the longest I go without access to power, with the benefit of hindsight I've probably wasted the £25 I spent.

Convenient as spare(s) that make it good to extend VIRB Elite filming time. It does take a while to recharge though.

It's a battery and it works. As it cost so little more than the copies I have that feel good factor having bought the genuine one. Whether it's any better than the copies, I don't know.

When I finally got the correct battery, it worked as it should. After all, it is a genuine Garmin part.
