Product Description

Product Description

Whether you own several acres of garden in the remote countryside or a window-box in an urban area, observing the behaviour of garden birds, from acrobatic tits to blackbirds in full song, can be an intensely rewarding pastime. Garden Bird Behaviour explores a wide range of bird behaviour including courtship, territorial behaviour, singing, nesting, flying, feeding, and migration; it's an invaluable guide that will help you get the most out of your birdwatching hobby. Written in a personal and encouraging style, with wonderful photographs and colour artwork, Garden Bird Behaviour is as enjoyable to read as it is informative. The emphasis is on observing the birds that frequent your garden and taking time to spot the different characteristics of each species as they feed, interact or raise their young, in order to gradually build up a comprehensive understanding of their behaviour.

Excellent resource 7 Dec 2006
Format:Hardcover
This is a very informative book, looking at various aspects of garden bird behaviour, such as breeding, feeding, daily cycles and survival. It's excellently priced for a hardback and is full of colour photos and illustrations making it very attractive - but it's not just eye candy. As a columnist for a BirdWatch Ireland local group, I found plenty of useful information in this book, both for personal interest and for my column. I don't think its aimed at children, in fact for younger children the text might be a bit hard to cope with (although of course they'd have a lot of fun looking at the photos). Highly recommended for beginners and seasoned birdwatchers like, of any age.

Garden Bird Behaviour 17 Sep 2005

Format:Hardcover
This is a good introduction to the subject . It seems to be aimed at a younger reader, unlike some of Burtons other work - such as the excellent - Bird Migration.
