Product Description

Thrown in prison on a regular basis, Estelle (Anne Bancroft) is the type of woman who will climb to the top of a construction site in her orthopaedic shoes to chew out a cat-calling hard hat. Gilbert (Ron Silver) a rather unambitious accountant, is something of a disappointment to his mother, but when he learns she is dying of cancer, he races against time to fulfil her last wish to meet her life-long idol Greta Garbo.

5.0 out of 5 stars my favorite movie 24 Mar 2010
Format:DVD
I was thrilled to finally find a copy of Garbo Talks in DVD. The only thing wrong was on my end, my DVD player only played region 1 DVD's. I immediately purchased a "all region" DVD player "JVC" blueray (witch i didn't have yet) and got to see my new DVD. Bless the UK, I'm so happy with my purchase.

5.0 out of 5 stars An absolute gem of a movie 8 Nov 2004
Format:DVD
This great film directed by Lumet is a constant delight.....funny, moving and vastly entertaining. The performances from Anne Bancroft down are faultless and each character in the rich tapestry of the search for Garbo are presented in complete detail and are each a joy to behold.
If you have not seen this film you are in for a very rare treat.
My advice.....just watch it!

4.0 out of 5 stars Top ten films (in no particular order) 17 May 2003
Format:DVD|Verified Purchase
Amazed and delighted that this warm and human film has survived the video culling and is available on DVD. From the Director who brought us 'Network' this is a different take on the same theme of honesty vs. societal norms. If you say what you think, watch this film--and you'll never stop trying to make a difference!
