For some reason Amazon have mixed up the track order here as the last one -at least on my copy-is by a group called SELTAEB.Which is actually Beatles spelt backwards and pronounced as Selta-Eb!
In 1960 the Wisconsin label suddenly had a hit single-Mule Skinners Blues by the Fendermen and it was leased for wider distribution to the Soma label who later had anotheer hit from a leased recording Surfin' Bird by the Trashmen.
Wisconsin isn't especially known as a rock n roll State and the Cuca label hardly figured in its history but it was founded in 1959 mainly to issue polka records but was drawn into recording rock'n'roll mainly of the garage band variety ie British influences.
The label ran through the 60s but few were more than local heroes with the Challengers name going against them as they weren't the real ones.
However these 3 Cuca collections are very interesting-the 2nd is called Elemental Instrumental-and though hardly important to those who collect Top 40 stuff or whatever the fact is its there for anyone who wants it-anyone willing to at least listen. And by doing so you will hear music not made by corporates but by artists just trying to clutch the brass ring
