As usual with all AE releases, on first listening the tracks presented on this EP simply sound like a random collection of beeps, clicks, samples and white noise.
As usual, however, after a few listens it all falls into place and the rythmns and melodies become clearer and more focused.
Grantz Graf sounds like a digital nightmare or at best an MP3 file that has some serious problems. However, underneath the terrifying rips of sound a coherrent beat and stunning melody make their presence subtly known.
Dial. is more accessible on first listen. The track is built around a heavily manipulated sampled vocal. Very hypnotic and very reminiscent of Bass Cadet.
Cap.VI again is initially more accessible than the title track. Manipulated vocal samples are to the fore along with a lovely distorted digital piano melody. However, its the rythmn that drives this track slowly becoming more urgent as the track progresses.
Fans of AE will get a lot out of this EP and anyone looking for cutting edge Electronica should give it a try. No-one else sounds like AE. Little more needs to be said.
