A neutral mark, so you decide ..................

A bit of a saga.

Saw the advert on Amazon, tried to phone them to check something before ordering - phone number "not in service".

Decided to risk it and placed the order and received a despatch confirmation and tracking reference. After 2 days the item still wasn't showing on track and trace, emailed and was told it can sometimes take time and they were sure it would be shown as despatched that night. Sure enough a short while later the item was marked as collected from customer - but was now listed as Express 24 delivery (I'd originally gone for the 3 to 5 day free delivery). Did they forget to despatch the item ?

It arrived the next day with a distinctly unhappy Parcel Force driver. There was no house number or street name on the label, he had had to go to our local Post Office to ask, fortunately they knew where I lived.

Powered machine up, Windows started, connected wireless adapter, it requested the drivers disk, inserted that in the DVD drive - nothing. Opened the pc case and found that the power lead to the DVD drive was not connected. Connected and loaded Wi-Fi adapter drivers.

The "new" Windows 7 turned out to be over 2.5 years old, and wasn't even at SP1 level, started to do updates, added around 200+ but when it got to SP1 it refused to load. Tried to "authorise" the W7 copy but couldn't find the COA code. Contacted the sellers who told me where to find the COA, but the file was empty. They emailed the code, I successfully authorised the OS with Microsoft, tried the SP1 update again but it still failed.

Decided that a clean install of the OS (without all the supplied add on's) might work. Was informed where to find the OS ISO on the disk.
