Product Description

Frederica Bracewell grew up under a cloud of shame. As an illegitimate child, she was treated by her uncle like a servant. It wasn't until she encountered the new gamekeeper that shy, innocent Frederica started to feel like a true lady....

Lord Robert Mountford had been banished by his family. After a debauched existence, he reveled in the simplicity of a gamekeeper's lifestyle. Until temptation struck! Frederica's plain appearance and stuttering speech were a far cry from the ladies of the "ton, " but she might just be his undoing...and unmasking!

I warn now that the start of this title is not to everyone's taste, he is a rake after all. Still, with patience and an open mind, the story progresses well and evens out into a fairly good love story. Though the ending in my opinion feels a little rushed.
The main characters match well and their chemistry falls into place rather easliy. Though the both of them hold onto their secrets until the final chapters.
The subplots feel slightly suplus, but none the less add well to the main plot.

Over all a good read, 3/5

Fabulous 25 Feb 2011

This is a fabulous book. I loved Lord Robert, my favourite part of the book is when Frederica sees him for the first time. He is in his guise as the gamekeeper, his description will have you drooling!!! Don't miss this story, his older twin and heir to the dukedom has his own book soon, mine is already on pr-order. Ann Lethbridge is one of my top authors, also when she is writing as Michele Ann Young, check out The Lady Flees Her Lord, another great story.

i wanted to slap some sense into the hero! 25 July 2011
By Jessiyari - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
The first half of the book was wonderful. Robert & Frederica were good together (even though Roberts reason for pushing her away were weak & i wish they had been lovers without his constant hesitation) and i especially enjoyed Frederica as a heroine but after the masked ball, the character of Robert makes a 180 and is this stubborn and prideful man for dumb reasons. At least when Frederica doubted him, she had the sense to talk to him and try to find out whats going on but Robert didnt give her the same courtesy & assumed the worst of her. I felt Frederica deserved better. The story also turned ridiculous & silly and Robert never redem himself in my eyes but i enjoyed the h/h from the first half and that is why i give it three stars. I kept hoping the Robert i first read about would come back but he returned too late and the second half was too frustrating a read for me to recommend. A shame, because the potential was there.
