5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Value Pad 17 Dec 2002
By A Customer
I have tried a number of pads but until now have not found anything that feels absolutely spot on. I am a console owner and have longed for a pad that allows me to play without all the clutter of having a wheel. In F12002, this give accurate feedback through the pad and due to the games adjustment allows you to set up the sticks and buttons perfectly. If you like the PS2 pad you'll like this. If you don't you'll still like it. I wouldn't have bought another PC pad but I think it looks better than most. The only real gripe is the shoulder buttons don't feel quite as solid as the rest but I can live with it bearing the major improvement in gameplay.

4.0 out of 5 stars A superb Controller but had install problems 23 Mar 2003
By Phil
This is a superb controller... Once you have it up and running. It's extrememly confortable to hold and use, and is the closest I've found to a PC version of a console controller. It could have done with the button action being a little more solid, but you quickly get used to the feel of it.
I had huge problems installing it though. The install software seemed to work fine, but for some reason it installed standard windows drivers rather than the supplied drivers, which just don't work properly. According to control panel it was installed correctly, but it just didn't seem to work and for a while I considered returning it assuming it was a hardware problem with the controller.
Thankfully though I logged onto the Saitek website, and found they have an online support forum. After posting my problems, I quickly recieved a very detailed reply from their support engineers with precise details of how to fix the problems I was having. This involved manually updating some drivers, which is not hard if you know your way around the guts of your operating system PC, but could potentially be confusing for some users.
Based soley on the controller I would have given this 5 stars without question. The installation problems would have dropped 2/3 stars off this as it was extremely frustrating for a while, but due to the excellent support I recieved from Saitek I will give this 4 stars as I understand that sometimes problems do happen, and they were extremely keen to do all they could to help, which is increasingly rare nowadays.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent 13 Nov 2003
By A Customer
Verified Purchase
I bought this gamepad expecting problems installing after reading other reviews. Installing on Windows XP was super easy and smooth as long as u stick to what the manual says. The pad is solid and feels comfortable. Excellent analog and digital function. Buttons are well placed for both a PC or playstation fan. Programming is all there from macros, to plain keypress to even just swapping buttons about. Wonderful pad and not quite sure how u could need anything more.

4.0 out of 5 stars Almost Perfect 14 April 2003
By A Customer
Once it is working it seems to be a very nice joypad. But that is the main problem with the pad - it took me an age to get it installed properly, messing around with updating drivers until finally it worked, the blue light finally came on and at last there was a rumble where there had once been none.
In some games the rumble just gets in the way (Total Immersion Racing where it rumbles everytime you turn, but then you get nothing if you hit another car) but in others it adds a nice touch. Playing Moto GP with this pad was a revelation. The analog sticks feel well made and work smoothly. I agree with another reviewer that the corner buttons feel a bit cack though. But they work.
If the build quality and the drivers were up to scratch I would have given it 5 stars. Maybe I will grow to love it - I need to try it with more games first and mess around with the profiles.

4.0 out of 5 stars Emulator heaven! 20 Aug 2004
I've had my grimy mitts on most of the official pads out there and got to say the N64 pad was the best along with the Dreamcast due mainly to the analogue sticks, which does seem to make or break pads these days...er Playstation anyone. 3rd party pads always seem to lack the intuitive design in aesthetics and ergonomics, and as the PC market has no official controller (possibly soon to change with the introduction of Microsoft's adapted XBOX pad) it seems to suffer from these same problems. Though Saitek does seem to be rolling out some admirable efforts.
The P2500 is a very nice little pad, playing emulators is a total joy, I spent hours sifting through battling my way through old snes and mega drive games until my eyes bleed... well almost!
No problems with anything here... oh there is one... the rumble on this thing is unusable unless you would like to induce a case of vibration white finger.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fine for NFSU2 20 Jun 2005
By A Customer
I bought this pad just to be able to play NFSU2 and it does the job easily. The rumble is not that forceful, but that may be something in NFSU2. The buttons are programmable, and you can download pre-programmed sets for a number of popular games from the website (such as for GTA-vice city). Anyway, I am very happy with it, and although the shoulder buttons do seem flimsy, they haven't broken down yet, and actually are very responsive. The analogue sticks suit me just fine, but I'm one of those that dislike the hard-sprung PS2 sticks.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice pad, but no rumble support 25 Nov 2003
I bought this pad to play GTA Vice City on my PC. It just runs great! -- Software installation was easy, and I was ready to rock. However it took me some time to configure all controls for the game; but then again -- it's only something you have to do once (for each game).
Pad is really good to hold (got rubber grips), and got some really robust buttons as well, and 2 nice analog controls.
The biggest misfortune with this pad is, that it only supports "rumble", which isn't the same as "force feedback". This means, that it won't vibrate in practically any game!!! (I haven't encountered one yet). Not even in a game like "NFS: Hot Pursuit 2". This is the reason that it doesn't make it all the way to the 5 stars.
