Product Description

When a suicide bomber blows herself up in Washington, President Roswell Clayton Pierce realises that nothing will ever be the same again. It is a Game Changer.

When Matt Richards sees bodies strewn across the US capital, he realises that there are some professions from which a man can never quit. It is a Game Changer.

And so begins a deadly game of cat and mouse against the most ruthless terrorists in the world. One man's reputation will be decided, and a Presidency will be put to the test as the world stands on the brink of global chaos.

Because when the Game changes, you either change with it...or you die.

From the terror camps of Beirut and the Lebanon, to the politics of the Middle East and Washington, Game Changer is a brilliant action thriller, combining the meticulous research of Frederick Forsyth, the military and intelligence know-how of Tom Clancy, the global reach of Robert Ludlum and the pulsating story-telling of Lee Child.

“This will grip you from the first page, and won't let go until the last” - Matt Lynn, author of the best-selling Death Force thrillers.

“The best thriller of the year.” - Tom Kasey, author of the best-selling Trade-Off.

John R. Childress is a leading business consultant, who was educated at Harvard University and the American University of Beirut. His fiction is based on an intimate first-hand knowledge of big business, government and global politics.

5.0 out of 5 stars An Intelligent Topical Read 7 Aug 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Without over doing it Game Changer takles the tricky issue of Middle East terrorism, and how the West should respond to it. The American President is confronted with a deadly threat, and has to rely on his best agent to defeat a menace no one saw coming. Read this book whilst on holiday - and read it quickly. Although John Childress can't be considered in the A-list of thriller writers yet, I'd be interested in reading his other books. The characters are well-drawn and the author is aware of the demands of the genre. Well worth reading.

4.0 out of 5 stars Game Changer by John Childress 3 Nov 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
A well-written story with a lot of action. I really liked the central character Matt Richards.
The plot was a little complicated and I did get lost at the start following the different political agendas. An exciting plot, despite its fatal flaw; why didn't they simply blow up the president at the start?
At the end all the strands were defly pulled together into a satisfying ending, if a little over optimistic. We can but dream.
I enjoyed the book, the style of writing and character development of Matt and his friends. But I did find the politicians one-dimensional and stereotypical.

4.0 out of 5 stars Peace? In the Middle East? 9 Sep 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Here's a thriller that'll keep you coming back for more. At the beginning, I found the book slightly hard to get into. But I think maybe that this was more my fault than John Childress' because a little perserverance saw the story barrelling along and I was gripped.

The characters are believable. There's our hero, a failed drunken doctor who pulls his life around (despite everyone trying to end it in spectacular style), the reporter who has a heart of gold, the sage President and so on.

The story is also mostly believable. The hero gets a face change, something that is I believe possible now. But peace in the Middle East? I just think the way they do politics there, for the last two thousand years or more precludes any lasting peace. Although they managed it in Northern Ireland (pretty much)so who am I to disbelieve?

Anyway, it's a novel. It tells a story, it entertains (very well) and is thought provoking. So I say, read it!

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book, it was a page turner. Sections of it was a bit fanciful and holy unrealistic. But it is a well written book with lots of suspense.
