Everyone is waiting for the death of Granny, the general's rich aunt, but so far from dying; she turns up alive and well, and makes her way to the casino . .

so , alright this is the great master of the psychological novel , did you ever hear the saying ' shake any movie and 20 minutes will drop out' ? It felt a little similiar about this novel , although a great book , a bit overlong and certain descriptions of the new year prision panto , went on and on.. i suppose it was boring in there, but if he had made it shorter , then it might be compared to the far superior ' day in a life ' by that other russian fella , sold his something or other. in short could have been a bit shorter and less indulgent, but then who am i to judge the great man ? i ask you.
