Format: Paperback
The stories running through issues #13-17 of Marvel Now’s new Gambit title is collected as Gambit Volume 3: No Opportunity Wasted (Marvel Now). It is an entertaining if lightweight adventure story that could easily have been a Wolverine story, or featured almost any other minorish character. However, it is entertaining, with good scripting and artwork, but nothing to make it a truly memorable or groundbreaking story – which is not a bad thing in itself, for, as the saying goes, if you eat a banquet every day, you soon get bloated.

This collection sees Gambit going through a series of adventures ending in a duel with a rival for the job of King of Thieves, leading the Thieves Guild. However, does he want it, or does he just want to prove he’s better than anyone else at thieving and trickery?

THE SPOILER ZONE
Issue #13 starts with Gambit’s friend Fence left in a critical condition from the previous story, so Gambit has to break into Tony Stark’s apartment and steal some tech, with the expected consequences of guest stars Pepper Potts and War Machine.

Issue #14 sees MI13’s boss Pete Wisdom finding that his one-night-stand has helped herself to something from the top-security safe he keeps in his bedroom, and Gambit has to go to Avalon to retrieve it.

Issue #15 sees Fence back on his feet and Rogue inviting Gambit to join the Uncanny Avengers; and a thief has stolen his idea for the crime of the century… and he wants it back!

Issues #16 and #17 sees Gambit up to his neck in traps as he is invited to try out for leadership of the Thieves Guild, whether he wants to or not, leading to a visit from some angry Avengers when he breaks into the maximum-security prison for supervillains.

Great book, unnecessary cameos but some people like that.
Great to see him kicking butt and doing his thing as you'd like to see.
