5.0 out of 5 stars So good we bought another ... 16 April 2010
Durability: 5.0 out of 5 stars    Educational: 3.0 out of 5 stars    Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
Bought these for my one year old and ended up getting two more - one for my seven year old and one for my 5 year old. Great for them as they love constructing things and then using their imagination to play with them and great for my one year old as they're nicely tactile and offer numerous ways to play - stacking, flipping, learning colours, making exciting shapes etc etc - all good and we like these very much - they don't take up much room either and are a perfectly reasonable price considering the long shelf life!

5.0 out of 5 stars A BLAST FROM THE PAST 31 Oct 2010

Octons were a firm favourite with my 40+ year old twins-----now my 5 yr old grandson LOVES them. The colours are better than they used to be and the octons stimulate the imagination and problem solving skills----I would rate them as a "MUST" if you are looking for educational/ construction toys. My only criticism is the unclear, black and white photocopy-style instructions-------for really young ones coloured diagrams/ideas would be far better.

i bought these for my son after he had been playing with them in our local hospital.although they are basically for smaller children my son enjoyed constructing flying machines, mythical creatures etc they are easy to put together and he has hours of fun.for any child who enjoys building and using their imagination these are a great starting block and an alternative to lego.knex etc.

5.0 out of 5 stars Octons - Lets a childs imagination flow 16 Feb 2010
Durability: 3.0 out of 5 stars    Educational: 5.0 out of 5 stars    Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
My son (5) loves this toy - he is forever building things from his imagination and then making a story up from it. He loved it so much I had to buys a second box of Octons to keep up with what he wanted to build!!! Only negative point I can think of about it is he is a rough and tumble little boy and has broken off a couple of the sides when playing with it, but fortunately this hasn't stopped the pieces from still being used.

This is a brilliant, well made game that can be easily played independently by little ones. My daughter is 3 and loves it. Packs up well (without the box) for holidays etc too.

The original transparent Galt Octons were a great memory from the late 70s, beautiful to look at as well as fun to play with. The only version you can currently buy seems a little cheaper made and the colours are lurid, but they are reasonably priced and an interesting construction toy for toddlers and young children. We made a lampshade with a couple of boxes of these Octons too!

Good sturdy, old fashioned toy. Not the most exciting toy daughter had at Xmas but will last longet than many of the others! Simple shapes, bright colours.
