Book Description

A conspiracy against humanity. A breathtakingly beautiful cyborg. A battle like no other. An adventure you won't forget!

The lives of four space drifters intersect on a planet of hope as the most powerful war machine in the galaxy approaches, threatening to consume them all in a storm of metal and fire.

Capt. Jace Spade is a fighter pilot from the Roga System. He is determined to find his maker—the enigmatic Dr. Zander—even if his search means risking all in the conflagrations of the Inner Galaxy.

Capt. Mina Casey is also a fighter pilot, but from an advanced human civilization that arose in the Heliac System. Capt. Casey has drifted through the void for eons as visions of a warm planet where she can sink her feet in the sand and watch the sunset filled her dreams.

Sgt. Joe Grimes—a Heliac Ranger who once lived for the thrill of the fight—is now disillusioned after the total defeat and destruction of his home world. He would leave all humanity behind if he could only get away.

Genie is a beautiful and indestructible cyborg constructed by a technologically advanced civilization for the purpose of interacting with humans. Genie is programmed to love Joe Grimes, but she longs to be free.

4.0 out of 5 stars Exciting Space Opera 2 Dec. 2012
    By Bob
    Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
The plot of this has been worked many times, two rival and advanced civilisations battling between themselves with the humans in the middle and basically getting in the way. Throughout the whole book there are numerous violent battles and thrown into the mix are the human main characters and an android which provides an unusual romantic interest. The strength of this book is the style and description of the characters, locations and action scenes; I particularly liked the cyborg, Genie. I can visualise without effort the whole story which to me is no bad thing. It is also an easy read and does not try to be clever by baffling me with pseudo-scientific terms. This is part one of a series and when it ends it is obvious there is more to come but it still reads well as a standalone I will probably read the next oneGALAXY OF HEROES II: War Heroes.

3.0 out of 5 stars Entertaining diversion 23 Nov. 2014
    Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
The basic premise is of two warring empires fighting over the galaxy. The remnants of humanity are in effect a lost tribe amongst other alien species struggling to survive and to find a home world for themselves. In some ways it reminded me of Battle Star Galactica.
The main characters are three dysfunctional humans and a cyborg who are in essence just trying to survive. That is about it though. There are hinted at sub plots and some passages that try to explain some background but not enough to hold it together. I am yet to read the next in the series and am trying to decide whether or not to bother.
If you like the older school Asimov type sci film then stay away.
If you prefer more back character and detail along the lines of more modern space opera such as Randolphe Lalonde then it will while away a bit of time while you find something more engaging.
If you just want a decent enough read for holiday or a few hours on a rainy afternoon then go ahead. Does what it needs to....whiles a way some time.

    1.0 out of 5 stars Don't. Just don't. 26 Dec. 2013

Clumsy, badly written, dystopian goriness. I do like to finish a book but I rarely need to check the marker to see how much more I have to get through.... Now it gets deleted.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good light weight read 5 Jan. 2013

Fast paced and with some humouruos moments.
Not for the die hard sci fi fan, a little too predictable at times.
