Product Description

Product Description

Earth has developed a stardrive. The stars are now ours. Others, however, have gotten there before us and they have rules we must follow. Facing isolation within our own star system Earth bites the bullet, forms a united government, and joins the Consortium. Humans, however, have a knack for getting into trouble and it doesn't take long before things start to unravel both on Earth and in deep space.

This is the amazing story of Jay Kauffman (the creator of the stardrive), CAIN (his machine partner), and the human race as technology drives us farther than our cultural development has prepared us for. But, it's not just about humans. In the end, it seems as if we have something of our own to teach the more advanced cultures.

Translight! is the first book of the Galactic Alliance series.

Impressive 16 Aug 2011

Format:Kindle Edition
Well structured, engrossing read. It becomes a little too mired in technical details in parts, but the general storyline is good and it is an enjoyable read.
If as much depth was put into the Characters as was put into the technical side it would be very good indeed.

Space Opera 25 Jan 2012
By IanMelb
Format:Kindle Edition
As many have noted, the spelling is somewhat detracting - I used the Kindle's note and highlight facilities to try and identify as many as I could, wondering if I could somehow upload them so that they could be merged in to the download.

Apart from that I enjoyed the story - I was most minded of E E 'Doc' Smith and his Lensman and Skylark series - Humanity romps through the stars due to the breakthroughs of a genius scientist/engineer.

Enjoyable story, good Space Opera if not quite the 'hard' SciFi of Reynolds et al.
