5.0 out of 5 stars How to get the best of your Machine, 25 Feb 2007
By Paul Thorpe "4P" (Milan, Italy) - See all my reviews
I've noted that this machine has had some bad reviews, so I thought I better set things right.

Heres how you do it:

1. Read the instructions

2. Make sure the machine is hot. Leave it to stand for at least 10mins before making your coffee. (I tend to leave mine on all day to save waiting for it to heat up every other hour). Also, if using the steam nozzle to froth milk leave the machine 30 seconds to reheat.

3. Make sure you use the correct grind of coffee. If you use coffee labelled "suitable for all machines" you will get a weak watery coffee. This is because the coffee is not fine enough. Make sure you buy coffee suitable for "espresso machines" which is a finer grind. Or, when grinding your own ensure you set the grinder to the finest setting.

4. Use the tamper provide to compress the coffee into the dispensing head.

5. Press the dispense button and wait a few seconds for your espresso cup to fill and you have the perfect coffee.

6. Maintenance. After a month or two of making your espressos make sure you take out and clean the stainless steal filter attached to the body of the machine. When it gets clogged with coffee the machine pumps the water out too quickly.

So, to the reviewer that put their machine back in the box, I suggest you get it out leave it to heat up for a few minutes and try the above steps.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent coffee, great looking machine, 29 Sep 2008

I also can't understand the people who gave this machine a bad review.
As long as you follow the instructions (which are easy to follow) and wait until the machine is hot enough, you get perfect espresso every time.

I use this along with the Gaggia coffee bags to make it even less of an effort to get a good espresso.

Good looking, solid, effective espresso machine

4.0 out of 5 stars You won't find a better machine for the money, 22 Dec 2008
By Andrew Taylor "grumble29" (UK) - See all my reviews

I'd like to concur with the other person below - I can't understand the bad reviews. If you've read the instructions and use some basic common sense you will be more than satisfied with the coffee you brew!!

Try using Illi espresso coffee. Its given me by far the best results so far. Another tip is to heat the milk in the microware for 30 secs before using the milk frother.

Apart from that if you follow the instructions you can't go wrong.
