Product Description

Manufacturer's Description

Gaggia is the best known Italian manufacturer of coffee machines for professional and household use and its name is synonymous with tradition and reliability the world over. The company was set up in 1947 by Achille Gaggia, the man to whom we are indebted for the success of espresso coffee all over the world. It was he who on September 5th 1938 filed a patent no 365726 with which modern steam-free coffee machines may be said to have been born. In 1977 Gaggia began producing coffee machines for the home, launching the Baby Gaggia, which to this day is considered to be the ideal family coffee maker. The designs and technological advances have changed the way the machines look and work but the objective of quality, reliability and the passion for the right espresso every time has remained throughout Gaggia's history and this is what makes Gaggia legendary.

The Gaggia Cubika has a traditional frother for making capuccinos and lattes. The 15 bar pump pressure ensures good cream on your espressos. The machine can be used with ground coffee or pods.

The design objective of the Gagged Cubika was to accommodate as many features of a top of the range machine in a small home model capable of satisfying the needs of a wide audience. With a neat brushed stainless steel casing, large cup warmer and built with traditional Gagged technology it is capable of making a perfect espresso using ground coffee or easy serving espresso pods. Cubika can even make perfect tea using our steam tea method.

Since October 2004, I've enjoyed the fantastic coffee (particularly when using Illy Espresso coffee) from this machine. The design is simple and stylish, and it's all easy to use. However, quality isn't the best - some of the parts don't seem to fit together all that well, and, like everyone else who owns this machine, the on/off switch broke 4 months in.
To Gaggia's credit, the service they provided in picking up and couriering the repaired machine back, was excellent.

With a £100/£125 budget I thought that Cubika would be the business. It worked perfectly for a few months then i had to resort to space-taping the on/off button down as it had broken! After a quick and painless exchange and a few more good quality espresso's the same happened again! I now have a Kenwood 'Cafe Retro' which is solid, looks better and costs about the same.

I went out today and bought my Cubika. After the initial set up and priming of the pump I then tried my first espresso. I'm pleased to report that this product is fantastic at any price. This is my first proper espresso/capuccino machine and for £125 you get a great make and great results, (Gaggia is the most bought espresso machine in Italy) and they know a thing or two about coffee.

The machine weighs in at a solid 5.3Kg, and looks the business in brushed steel. Operation is a doddle and all the parts slot together precisely and easily.
The espresso is produced with superb crema and milk frothing is easy with the 'Turbo frother'.

This is an excellent product and I would advise anybody out there looking to upgrade or invest in an espresso maker to go with the Gaggia.
