5.0 out of 5 stars Worth the price and then some 20 Feb 2008
This is a invaluable if you treat it for what it is - a handy pocket dictionary of common Gaelic words with approximate pronunciation. I'm learning Gaelic, and while the 2007 update of "Essential Gaelic-English Dictionary" by Angus Watson is far more comprehensive, it doesn't include pronunciation assistance - something that I'm finding critical as a beginner. The Angus dictionary is a must, but I'm really glad I also picked this up - it's making learning Gaelic that much easier.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not worth the price 27 Sep 2005
By Treacle
This book doesn't have much going for it. It doesn't list many of the different "cases" of words (which are very important in Gaelic and are quite irregular). Some people object to it's use of phonetics -- I don't, but I'm not sure they're entirely necessary in a language like Gaelic. Plus, some of the phonetic characters were missing in the copy I bought.
It also has a lot of useful words missing, about half the things I look up aren't there, and I'm in my first year of learning the language.
I bought it for less than half the cover price, and still don't think it was worth it. There are much better dictionaries for only a little more money.

5.0 out of 5 stars A real must have! 12 Aug 2011

This little dictionary is an excellent go-to-first resource. It is not comprehensive, but the pronunciation guide is a huge help!
There is so far no one dictionary that has everything I want, but this one is an important resource for the beginner and for the advanced student.
Also, it's very portable and not too expensive.
Buy it, enjoy it!
