We at gadgetshop HQ are partial to a bit of Scalextric racing now and then. We frequent a special Scalextric venue where the track occupies the entire room. Unfortunately attempting to pack the contents of the entire room to take with us on our annual gadgetshop team building trip to Margate proved rather unsuccessful. So we were overjoyed to find our racing needs would not be denied us with the help of this handy gizmo. Race in a Case does exactly as it says on the box. Simply open up the case, put the cars on the track, plug in the generators and race. It's the quickest racing game set up ever. What's more, there are no batteries or mains. The cars run by hand powered controllers. With no messy wires traipsing about the room and no electricity use required, this is one eco-friendly, uber tidy toy. Includes a lap counter so you can keep score on who is winning and have your own competition. Spiffing.

As parents we thought in principle this was a great idea, a portable scalextrix that you can set up and pack away in moments. In practice this was not the case. The connectors on the base of the cars are so flimsy that the cars do not work well on the track, every few seconds you have to keep repositioning the cars as they lose contact and stop working or come off the track repeatedly . It wasn't a question of driving style or driving speed which we understand can make cars fly off the track round corners, it is just poorly designed.This was a Christmas present and my 6 year old sadly commented that "Father Christmas didn't bring us a very good scalextrix Mummy". Disapointing and not worth the money.

Bought for my sons for christmas from their grandma. A total waste of money from her point of view and a complete disappointment for the children who were so excited. It is absolute rubbish. The cars dont connect or go round the track because the connectors are so flimsey, and one of the two controls that you wind up to get the cars moving broke within minutes. Such a shame as the concept is great, but hopelessly made. The review of 5* has clearly been given by someone from the company who makes them.

Save time and energy and throw straight in the bin, better to save money and not buy it at all. Impossible to put together and the control unit had to be taken apart and rewired to get both tracks working!
