Product Description

Product Description

For 'Gadditude', his tenth outing as a leader, world class drummer Steve Gadd got a little help from his distinguished friends - guitarist Michael Landau, keyboardist Larry Goldings, trumpeter Walt Fowler and bassist Jimmy Johnson. Together they had already established a high degree of bandstand chemistry as the touring band for superstar singer-songwriter James Taylor. That goes a long way in explaining the sense of comfort and ease from track to track on this relaxed session recorded in just one week at Landau's home studio. "It was like a big family affair", says Gadd. "It's fun to get together with people that you care about, that you trust musically and just share the energy and try to make the music the best that it can be." Personnel: Steve Gadd (drums), Walt Fowler (trumpet, flugelhorn), Larry Goldings (keyboards), Jimmy Johnson (bass), Michael Landau (guitars), Arnold McCuller, David Lasley (background vocals - 3,9)

4.0 out of 5 stars It's in the details!! 17 Dec 2013
Format:Audio CD
First when i listened to Gadditude, i didn't get it...too relaxed!! But then i gave it a second chance, put it in the cd player in the car...It grows, and grows, Love it, especially the trumpet playing is lifting the band to another level. I know this is supposed to be a drum album, by one of the planets best drummer, but this is really a band album. Funky and jazzy in the good way. Check it out!!

3.0 out of 5 stars well worth while. 8 Oct 2013
By inkster
Format:Audio CD
Well judged, well played, well recorded and not too heady.
Some of it is a little too light for my taste much much of this is made up for by the above mentioned.

Well worth while I'd say.

4.0 out of 5 stars Slowburner 16 Nov 2013
By Anders Mossberg - Published on Amazon.com

Somewhat understated but worth the buy if only for a seldom and amazing bass-solo from Jimmy Johnson. Of course it grooves abundandly and Michael Landau keeps confirming his star-status among guitarplayers. Buy it.

Great players! One of the best drummers ever! Would have preferred a little more aggressive stuff. You could not ask for a more stellar lineup of musicians!

4.0 out of 5 stars You can never go wrong with Steve 11 Nov 2013

What can you say about a drummer who has played with everyone from Paul Simon to Paul McCartney. Who had the back beat on "You Make Me Feel Like Dancing" by Leo Sayer? it would be Steve Gadd. This combo is vey enjoyable and solid. Nice tunes by Larry Golding and others like Keith Jarrett. I wish their were more of Steve letting loose. A good album however.
