4.0 out of 5 stars Readable, usable and enjoyable 27 Feb 2003
GURPS Biotech begins with a brief look at the basics of genetics, and as with all GURPS sourcebooks the scientific background, whilst hardly in depth, is sufficient for the average reader and quite understandable.
The book discusses the social impacts of the technologies described as well as their applications in a GURPS campaign. The flavour text, all of which comes from the mouths or pens of various characters descriped in an appendix, is entertaining and provides a colourful overview of each modification or technology.
The art, as with most GURPS book is black and white and not particulalrly pleasing to the eye, but his is hardly a major problem.
On balance, a good book that is well worth getting if you want to incorporate biotechnology into your campaign.

5.0 out of 5 stars FANTASTIC WORK! 18 Sep 2003
This book is the best roleplaying sourcebook for Biotechnology I've ever seen. It keeps up with the established good standards of Steve jackson games and is an essential guide to the world of Biotech for GURPS or other games.
It is informative and well laid out with a lot of examples to show you how things are done.

5.0 out of 5 stars Are you still using last year's genes? 14 Mar 2000
By Fredrick L. Mcdonald - Published on Amazon.com
In this age of cloning and genetically altered crops it's hard to create a game book that won't seem hopelessly outdated by next year. David Pulver (GURPS Psionics, GURPS Vehicles and other) has done an excellent job with GURPS Bio-Tech! Rather than a simple list of advantages and disadvantages available, David takes advantage of existing rules to explain how select gene-mods would work in game mechanics.
Also covered are modifications to animals, plants, alien organisms and a extensive section on germ warfare. (Better make sure that the target genome doesn't appear in your population!) Addition information discusses specific changes that bio-modification could bring to a society.
This book is tailored to the GURPS game system, but with a bit of thought could be used for virtually any game system.
