Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review

The Yelo DMP64VR is one of the best-value MP3 players around. As the name implies, this digital audio player comes with 64MB of built-in memory (Flash RAM), plus it has an MMC slot for further expansion, up to a maximum of 96MB. The unit is extremely portable, both small (94x68x18mm) and incredibly light (60g excluding batteries). In spite of this it feels sufficiently well built as not to cause worries about long-term usage. Setting up the Yelo player is straightforward, with everything you need provided in the box, along with some simple instructions to follow. The connection to the PC is via the parallel port, so the unit works with Windows 95, as well as later incarnations of Windows--unlike the faster USB connections available on many competing players. Software provided includes MusicMatch Jukebox, which is a popular piece of MP3 software, along with a proprietary MP3 loader program, which handles the transfer of files to and from the device. This is less impressive, as it doesn't let you transfer files from the device to your hard drives, only delete them. This feature would be especially useful for making use of the digital voice recording functionality of the player. Once installed, the sound quality of the player is impressive. The supplied headphones are of a surprisingly good standard and the menus and controls are intuitive to use. The battery life in our tests was closer to 8 hours than the quoted 10, but this was still adequate, and varies according to volume settings. All in all the Yelo DMP64VR is excellent value for money, providing a good balance of quality and capacity at a more than reasonable price. --J. Weston

I have received one of these as a gift and it's been a disaster. To be fair the MP3 player itself is a nice product and works well. The problem is that the MP3 loader software provided is very, very poor and only works with Windows 95/98 and uses parallel port transfer which is very slow. So if you have plans to move to XP this device will be redundant....There is no online Technical support. If your thinking of buying an MP3 player, shop around, for a similar price as this you should be looking for a device with 95/98/2000/XP support, USB connectivity and Windows Media Audio support.

The DMP64VR is the big brother of the DMP 32. I got it after a friend came over with his 32MB version. It has twice the storage capacity, but the differences don't end there. The memory isbuilt in which makes upgrades easier. 64 MB give an hour of music. I got a 64 MB upgrade to make it 2 hours worth. That made all the difference. It feels nicer in my hand (with the included hand strap) than it's younger brother and it looks so much better too. The voice recording works a treat, but it has it drawbacks. It's main disadvantages are the lack of USB Support for easy connection and the slow upload speed. But apart from that it is the best MP3 player I have touched!

If you are thinking of buring an MP3 player, get this one and buy extra storage for it.

Immediately I was impressed by the quaility of the sound coming through the headphones. It even sounds good plugged into my HiFi! It's really easy to use and the software that comes with it is good. Flagrant use of the hold button is required to stop buttons being pressed when it sits in your pocket and depending on compression you can about 20 songs on the built in memory. With MMC memory cards you can almost double that! Remember to take your battery out if you're going to leave it for a long time as you may find it flat when you get back to it! That aside it is a very good sounding budget player.
