Product Description

Meet Eikichi Onizuka, a 22-year-old college karate champ and ex-biker. He's crude, foulmouthed, and has a hair-trigger temper. Just the sort of guy you'd expect to see going back to school - to become a teacher.

5.0 out of 5 stars Has sold 37+ million 4 a reason 8 Oct 2006
I picked up the first volume of this manga in a bookstore and read it. When I finished, I put it down and went and bought the first 15 volumes, yes it was that good. This is the first manga that has swayed me into a different genre, all my other mangas are bloody, violent, action ones like Vagabond, Blade of the immortal, Berserk, Battle Royale and others, but this manga has opened my eyes to the comedy genre of mangas. Its about Eikichi Onizuka, a 22-year old virgin and ex-biker gang member who has nothing goin on in his life so decides to become a teacher so he can get girls, but as he experiences more about teacherhood and comes to meet different kinds of teenagers (good & bad) he decides to take it seriously and makes it his mission to become Japans greatest ever teacher. This manga is very funny and has had me laughing so many times, it has also got action (Onizuka is always in the middle of it) and adventure (Onizuka goes on quite a few of these). It is instantly one of my most favourite mangas and all of you should read it and find out what 37+ million people are exicited about.

5.0 out of 5 stars GTO: Best Manga Ever! 5 Oct 2003
This is the story of a lay-about, slacker, biker who wants to become a teacher, even if it is only for the High School girls. Onizuka is one of the funniest characters ever, nothing goes right for him and when it does something else happens and he's back to square one! It is rediculously funny, laugh out loud moments as Onizuka's hilarity ensues, IT IS SHEER GENIUS PEOPLE. Tokyo Pop contine to produce quality manga, I love this series any manga fan would and it's perfect for anyone who is even vaguely interested.

5.0 out of 5 stars love it, love it, love it 18 Dec 2009
I actually first came about this after randomly browsing through some manga reviews, had me hooked within the first few pages, recommend for a fan of any genre, there's something for everyone in this.
Great character development and some really nice plots, top comedy, as mentioned earlier - there is a reason GTO has sold so many copies - its great!

I was thrilled to find out that this manga series was sold here on amazon. I tried searching for it high and low in local shops and noone had it. After finding it, buying it and reading it only for the original cost of half a pound i can definetly say that the book lived up to my expetations and more! Definetly check it out if you haven't already!

5.0 out of 5 stars GTO 6 Sep 2012
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
GTO is a manga following Onizuka, a former gang member who wants to become a teacher for all the wrong reasons. Onizuka wants to be a teacher so he can perv on High school girls. Onizuka finds becoming a teacher isn't as easy as he would hope. The first volume focuses on his initial attempts to become a teacher. The manga is funny and doesn't take itself too seriously. The story itself is actually realistic for the most part and is set in this universe.

The art is well done and there are a few fanservice moments too.

Onizuka as a character is really funny and you become attached to them throughout the series.

I recommend this series for who likes comedy and anyone who has seen and enjoyed the anime.
