I was unsure of whether to buy this after reading some reviews and I was looking originally to spend less than £50. After checking Argos and other places I decided to buy one of these as the biggest considerations for me were no cables, no fiddly reels to try and keep easing line out of and lightweight ( I had a plate and screws put in wrist last year and have limited movement and pain with heavy equipment). I ordered directly from GTech and couldn't be happier. Trimmer came the next morning. Only took less than an hour to charge. Putting the few pieces together fiddly for me but wouldn't have been if I could move hand better. Blades for cutting inserted in nano seconds, easily. Trimmer very light and easy to move about and no arm ache after using it for 25 mins. With one charge I trimmed weeds under a 25ft hedge, then gave the 5ft high hedge a light going over just to see what machine could do. Hedge is in parts, Ivy, Yew, Mayflower and Hazel and trimmer cut through it all without chewing it up. With same charge I hacked a 4ft wide x 15 ft nettle patch with dried Dogwood stalks in it, then proceeded to mash up masses of dead Camillia flowers, then hacked into a massive border of overgrown weeds and last years overgrown shrubs (we just bought the house). There was still charge left when I stopped. I'm very, very happy with this Gtech trimmer and also the service. I hacked to bits 2 of the blades from the pack of 20 which came with trimmer but blades are free for the lifetime of product with only 2.95 postage per pack of 20 so I will order more.

UPDATE: Today the main blade retention nut snapped off and was probably my fault as I went too near a group of concrete statues. I rang Gtech and they are sending the entire head unit asap and including a freepay envelope to return the faulty head so they can check why the nut snapped off. Couldn't ask for better customer service.

Despite the numerous good reviews of this trimmer I have to say that my expectations have been exceeded. Although manufactured in China it is very clear through that this is an extremely well thought out and designed product, fitting of the designed in the UK statement on the packaging. Additionally, all the european required safety standards have been certified in the UK which is a good indication of how Gtech operate as a professional company.
It's a great trimmer, light and easy to use with remarkable performance for it's size. The power supplied by the battery remains constant throughout the 30 minute run time between charges. My wife is a professional gardener and I'm a Quality Manager in aerospace and we both think it's a great tool for the home garden!

I am delighted with this grass trimmer and edger from GTech. It is far superior to any garden "strimmers" I have had in the past. This is a joy to use, and does a magnificent job. The power lasts the whole way around the edges of my garden, and it is so useful for where grass grows close up to fencing or brickwork or netting and a lawnmover can't reach up to the edges. Really lightweight and no having to mess about with strimmer wire and the like, is an added bonus. It's such a clever idea to use a little cutting plastic blade, which GTech supply you with as many as you need free for life!
I was already thrilled to bits with their GTech Airram, the best vacuum cleaner ever!, and wish I'd bought this grass trimmer/edger years ago.
    Can thoroughly recommend.

Very good grass strimmer. It is such a relief to get away from a line feed strimmer a. I have tried plenty but it is almost impossible to use one without the line jamming constantly. It is always best to use this machine within its limitations. It will trim grass edgings but you can't expect it to strim concrete and brick edges! Plastic blades are less forgiving than strimmer line. I got through three or four blades because I wore them out on concrete edges. If you practice keeping the blade steady but just close enough you will save blades. Some of the cheaper plastic blades are thinner than the blades supplied with this strimmer. I have tried using a thicker plastic mower blade by cutting the end off so that it rotates inside the strimmer head. Well it works for me anyway. Very good lightweight, cordless, adjustable tool. Well worth it.

Bought one of these 5 years ago when Homebase were selling it under their own name.
My wife tried to use it on brambles last year and damaged the head; I managed to do a "repair" using Gaffer tape! It is still working batteries still good.
As I tend to use it for edging lawns and those bits that you can't reach with a mower we tried to buy from Homebase again but they don't stock them only the much heavier Bosch and loads of those annoying nylon "string" ones that have a nasty habit of breaking and you then spend quite a while sorting it out, Amazon had them brilliant, ordered with extra plastic fingers, Hombase have them but more expensive so why waste time and fuel going when delivered to your door?
I use one plastic "finger" to do my front and back lawns both edging and the other bits.
I totally recommend one of these for people who want a lawn edger strimmer and don't want the weight or cables of other grass trimmers.
Several people seeing the neat edges to the front lawn have asked how it is done, I have shown them at least one lady near to us now has one of her own.
My wife has a Brush cutter for the Brambles now.
