I see on the back of this game cover it says I can use my Xbox controller on a PC game. Is this correct?

Also it appears I need to log into Windows Live? What is this?

Windows Live is similar to the xbox 360 dashboard, you have friends (You can also add XBOX 360 players), get trophies and download/buy games from a store. You will be prompted to create and install a Games for windows live account when you install the game, and you can set it to automatically log you in when you start the game. All Games For Windows Live, and many other PC games are compatible with an xbox 360 controller.
