Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review

When you first set eyes upon a Game Boy Advance it's almost certain that the game everyone will use to show off the console's abilities will be GT Advance. The idea of Gran Turismo on a portable console may seem ridiculous, but that's exactly what GT Advance is. In terms of graphics, realism, and number of cars, it's as close as you're likely to get to the PlayStation classic while sitting on a bus.

GT Advance lets you drive up to 48 different cars, all of which are officially licensed from real-life (but exclusively Japanese) manufactures. There are four separate classes of championship mode with eight courses in each, making for a mighty impressive 32 tracks in total.

Of course, as the almost entirely rubbish GT Championship proves, all the options in the world can't save a racing game if it doesn't look or feel the part, but GT Advance does. The cars handle well and the super fast 3-D graphics are amazing. There's even a two-player mode, making this a must-have for any GBA owner who wants to see just what his or her new console can do. --David Jenkins

Manufacturer's Description

GT Advance brings the most realistic racing experience ever seen on a handheld console. Featuring over 40 real life cars from seven real-life manufacturers, GT Advance offers the player the opportunity to tweak their cars' performance in nine categories. And with 32 tracks and the opportunity to race against other players via GBA link cable the challenge is sure to be intense and long-lasting. This is the ultimate handheld driving challenge.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cheap as Chips 22 April 2003
This is one of the original games that came out with the GBA at it's launch on the 22/06/01. However, good games don't grow old and die (look at Pac-man for one example) This is one of the GBA's first and still one of the better racing games avaidable on the little handheld. The amount of cars that you get to choose from is a staggering 15 to start with but if you win a race you get to unlock another car. There's also the garage where you get to tune up your racer so that you can get that victory. The graphics are great but are a little glitchy when cornering. The gameplay is realistic. For example turn into a corner to quickly and your car will spin and the wet road surfaces do make a differance to the car's handling. Great! But with all good games there are 2 notable downsides. The first I've mentioned already and the second is that the races last for about 1 minute which is nowhere near long enough but there are about 35 tracks in total! You can get this game dead cheap now cause it's old but if you see it then get it you won't be disapointed

5.0 out of 5 stars Faaaaaaaaantastic 3 July 2001
GT Advance is amazing, you may see some screen shots of it but untill you actually play it you will not be able top fathom how amazing the graphics are, for a bloody handheld computer. the gameplay is brilliant as well. unlike the playstation version of gt, this is very easy to pick up and play. there is no faffing about with lisences, which is a relife. if you get one game, get this. BUY IT NOW.

4.0 out of 5 stars WOW - this is a handheld game? 30 Jun 2001
If this is going to be the standard of game on the GBA, then I am going have to find more free time. The 50% larger screen on the GBA means the games are much, much easaier to follow than on the original and this title is simply a must have. With plenty of cars to choose from, each with pros and cons of handling vs acceloration vs top speed, and a variety of track types this game has plenty of longevity. You can't just race along flat out and expect to finish in the required top 3 to proceed through the championships. Some of the tracks have me coming back in the quick race mode because they are just fun to race round.

The only criticism is the password save rather than a battery back-up. Whilst not a major problem it does mean that you need the password to access the unlocked cars and tracks each time you turn on the game. So one star off for that. Otherwise, great game
