More About the Author

I studied Art and Design at Loughborough College of Art and Design. Among other things, I now use my creativity to write cookbooks. I have been married to Ron for over 30 years and we have two sons, Ben and Tim, who have left home and are starting families.

When my sister and I were quite young, probably 5 and 6 years old, we started to cook, mainly cakes, biscuits and simple meals. By the time I was 12, we would cook Sunday lunch. I love this heritage and am passionate about good food. There is nothing I love more than having a house full of people to feed.

I started out by writing out first student cookbook back in 2001. Since then we have written new editions including vegetarian versions, graduate versions and a family cookbook. We have just finished two new books called Nosh Quick & Easy and Nosh Gluten-Free. Both these books have been inspired by comments we get from people that use our books and so we are really excited to see how they work for people in the real world.

Review

5 Stars:After thoroughly using my Nosh for Students cookbook for three years, I was eager to try out Nosh for Graduates. I love that each recipe has a photo, great to see how you can present it, so it not only tastes fab but looks it as well. Each recipe has an easy guide to price, ease of making, and cooking time, which is really helpful when trying to decided what dish to go for. Having already made a few, I was really chuffed with the results, and how easy the instructions were. I think I'll be using this book for a long time! Full marks. 5 Stars: As a naturally less adventurous cook, I found Nosh for graduates an easy way to experiment with more varied recipes. It is very easy to follow for the less intuitive cook, in fact, I've made 4 or 5 of the recipes so far and none of them have gone wrong at all! Also, the photos are really helpful in knowing what your dish will look like at the end. 5 Stars:The 'Nosh for Students' cookbook has literally taught me how to cook, and now I can't wait to widen my cooking ability with this book- It's given me so much confidence to try new things already! It's so simple to follow, with the step by step guide, and the photos show clearly what your dish will look like when it's done. I love that it tells you how much each portion will cost to make, and also how long it'll take to prepare as well as cook- makes prepping a lot easier when you have a family to cater for. I also found the 'cook school' very useful at the beginning. You guys have thought of everything! Nosh books are genuinly the only cook books you need!

I love this heritage and am passionate about good food. There is nothing I love more than having a house full of people to feed. I have produced this book as a follow up to Nosh 4 Students . It still provides simple recipes, but ones that progress from the ordinary and utilitarian. I trust that you will enjoy this book and be further inspired to produce great food.

This book is superbly presented and easy to use, the recipes are quick and simple, and importantly taste brilliant! As many households I have a number of different cook books, but this is the only one I use to figure out my weekly shop and calculate a budget, the celeb names sit gathering dust whilst I have found this genuinely indispensable. Many thanks to the authors/publishers and well done!

I may not be a student any more but that doesn't mean I have loads of money! The thing I love most about this book is the fact that every recipe comes with an estimated cost. That has meant that I can choose the cheaper recipes in the weeks leading up to pay day, an absolute necessity in my household. The added extra of knowing how long recipes should take means that planning for days when time is not my friend is easy.
My favourite section is the one pot cooking section as I hate washing up with a passion and I can use my new slow-cooker put the meal in and walk away.
The cook school builds one the skills that most students have learnt during university and the ideas for a herb garden are simple and well laid out. I love the photos as they give you a great idea what the meal should look like and how you can best present it for friends.
I'm really looking forward to throwing a dinner party!

I already owned the Nosh For Students cookbook (which by now is somewhat battered) and have found it very useful. Being a naturally cynical man, I thought Nosh for Graduates would be a collection of recipes which did not make it into the first book. Far from it. These recipes are a departure from the simple, easy-to-cook aesthetic of the first book. The emphasis has moved to food which is more complex and impressive to you and anyone you may wish to invite round. It is still, I hasten to add, thoroughly comprehensible and easy to cook - and tasty. There is literally no recipe I have eaten so far that I have not liked. Thoroughly recommended.

On my kitchen shelf, as for most older cooks, are many glossy cookbooks. I am a graduate at heart still, despite being over 50! After my divorce, I lost my love of cooking, but this cookbook has tempted me back. It has renewed my confidence in cooking and in economical cooking at that. It is clear, attractive and 'down to earth'. Hooray! My first foray into its pages was cooking 'Zesty Tuna Steaks' for a friend. A great success! Next, I intend to revise my store cupboard. There is so much more common sense in this cookbook, combined with everyday cooking experience. Don't miss it.

I got this book recently and think it is amazing! I decided to start at the back with the 'comfort food' and 'sweet days', definitely a good place to start! I think the Chocolate and Rasberry Torte is delicious, I made it for a party and had soooo many compliments as to how good it tasted!
We used Nosh 4 students (when we were students) and this book follows the same easy to use pattern but with some slightly more complex and sophisticated ideas. The ease guide also helps me to know if I'm going to need a trial run before attempting it with guests! It's so clearly set out with all the helpful information you need. Whether you can cook or just would like to be able to I would highly recommend this excellent book!
Now I've just got to work out what to cook next ;-)

This really is a fantastic cook book for those who are taking the next step from a student 'getting by' on student meals....to really wanting to learn to cook something a little more special. The recipes are easy to follow and don't confuse. We use this book regularly and even when we aren't cooking a meal directly from the book, often refer to it for ideas and tips to go towards other meals (for instance, the apple chutney, we now use in lots of other dishes)! The waiting for pay day especially has helped us to plan the last weeks shopping before pay day!! The presentation and layout makes it really easy to follow and find whatever I need. In all, it has taken first place in our kitchen cook book shelf and excellent buy!

Have previously bought 2 of the Nosh cookery books for my daughter for use (she became vegetatian halfway thro' Uni hence the "Vegetarian"Nosh buy . They have been very well used and thought I'd buy this as she has now graduated. Very good practical content . Could do with more main meal recipes for vegetarians but apparently her non-veggie friends think it's great too!!
