Section 1 of the book presents that case for how beliefs are formed. In its early years, the emergent brain finds it easy to accept things that in adulthood would be questioned and rejected. Given the right circumstances, these negative beliefs take root in the subconscious and are filed away, seemingly forgotten. In adulthood, the subconscious mind will try to obey these beliefs. The adult finds himself exhibiting particular negative behaviours while having little awareness of how these behaviours originate.
Section 2 focuses on the GOLD method for identifying, isolating and dealing with beliefs that may be creating difficulty. Georges Philips and Lyn Buncher have devised a clever mapping technique that the client performs with a counsellor’s assistance. Under a light hypnotic trance, the person can effectively be assisted to eliminate negative beliefs and restructure the resultant belief set.
As an Executive Business Coach, I have read the book and attended Georges's courses. His method makes sense, and I have seen it in action many times. And, despite the novelty of the approach, it's actually quite simple to apply.
Highly recommended!
