Sigur Ros and its frontman have not made a bad album, but over time their releases have lost some of the magic that made "Agaetis Byrjun" one of the great musical discoveries of my lifetime. Likewise, the first couple Sigur Ros concerts I attended were breathtaking, spiritual moments for me, and the last couple were just okay. And I like Jonsi's solo album just fine, but I didn't expect it to translate to such an exquisite live music experience. This film and live album make me wish I'd been able to see the show in person, because it absolutely captures the magic of those early Sigur Ros concerts (far, far better than "Inni" does, by the way). I love that there is plenty of new material here, and not just filler but GOOD songs. But the real magic is in the live versions of the songs from "Go", especially 'Around Us' and the epic rendition of 'Grow Till Tall'. From gorgeous, sad ballads to fun pop songs that evoke a sense of childlike imagination better than any musician I've heard, these live songs are incredibly passionate and soul-stirring. I can hardly wait for Jonsi and his bands to make more music, because this recording is proof that he is still one of the great artists of our time.
