4.0 out of 5 stars Gnomes 31 May 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
You'll never look at the humble garden gnome in the same light again after reading this cracker of a story.
Johnny has made his money from a series of gnome stories but when the house he builds encroaches on the forest the darker spirits of the forest fight back by inhabiting the 'bodies' of four garden gnomes.
The characters of the four gnomes are brilliant and a laugh a minute and when they increase their numbers (a greedy gnome, a camp gnome, a gnome with tourettes and more) things just get better.
The only thing that stopped me giving this 5 stars (and believe me I really, really wanted to give it 5) was the usual editing problems that come with 'indie' books (but having said that there were not that many)
All in all, a wonderful book which I would encourage anyone with a love for b-movie horror to pick up. Probably Mr. Neild's best so far for me

5.0 out of 5 stars Gnomes - need I say more 22 Sept. 2014
By Wendy
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
After reading this book I can see why there are people who cant stand gnomes. Who would think that old gnomes found at the bottom of your garden will change to evil, swearing, killing little things. No one is safe when the garden gnomes are taken over and become baby legs, little giggler and honey pie and these gnomes then decide to take over the area converting all gnomes they meet into killing machines. This book is gnomes at their worst and I think an excellent read by Stuart Neild. I definitely need more books on my kindle by him.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dark comedy at its best. 13 Nov. 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I've always said gnomes are evil, and these are definitely not the sort you want in your garden. However, these aren't really gnomes, these are garden ornaments possessed by evil woodland spirits. Definitely worthy of a sequel. A really good book that I found hard to put down. Would definitely recommend downloading, but this is an adult book and isn't for young children. Look forward to reading more from this writer.

1.0 out of 5 stars gnomes 8 April 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
i can,t believe how indescribebly bad this is. the gnomes spend so much time joking, they are not even scary. most of the human characters, except for the main protaginist, seem to have been hit with the ugly stick. and apparantly, you can find information on the internet on how to deal with possessed killer gnomes!!!!

characters behave in nonsensical ways. for instance, a man wastes time telling his son off, while his wife is being attacked, and then he just politely asks the gnomes to leave his wife alone!!! at one point, the gnomes attack a housing estate, but don,t worry, because a gang of youths, complete with flamethrower, will see them off, seriously, a flamethrower?

i,m not sure what the author was aiming for here, maybe a horror comedy, but the comedy was too over the top and for me, it leeched all the horror out of it

3.0 out of 5 stars Pissed Off Demon Garden Gnomes indeed 10 Mar. 2012
By B. Tebbs - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
As another reviewer said, this story is exactly what it says it is and it's hard to resist reading it with a silly grin on your face. And yes, a movie would be awesome. Had to subtract one star for punctuation errors. That sort of thing usually makes me throw up my hands in despair, but I scored this as a free download and the story is such a twisted romp that I put everything on hold and breezed through it in one afternoon. Easily the best Kindle book I have read this week. Recommended.

2.0 out of 5 stars B-Movie Fun 6 Sept. 2011
By J. Fields - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I don't know what the authors intention was with this book. I think I can tell from the writing style, and the way he plays with the gnomes and their world, that he was having a good time with a crazy idea.

I'm not going to get deep in this review, because this book is just what you think it is. Sometimes I laughed, sometimes I chuckled, sometimes I was grossed out. I want someone to make this movie, so I can just watch it and enjoy it with a bag of popcorn.

It's a lot of fun, and as a reader of horror novels who likes a good B-Movie, what else can I ask for? This isn't King, this isn't Konrath, this isn't Simmons. These are pissed off demon possesed garden gnomes.

Grab some popcorn and enjoy.

Oh, why only 2 stars you ask? Well, because it's pissed off demon possesed garden gnomes. That's why.

Funny as all heck with a delightful storyline and unique characters (to say the least). I got quite a few chuckles reading this book. Recommended.
