I found this book very hard to get into in the first place. Unfortunately a lot of the food is awful

This is probably the most useable book that Gillian McKeith has written so far. It is essentially a complete compendium that provides a thorough guide to the direct relationship between food and health, looking in detail at the effects we can have on our bodies and our general well being by taking some simple steps. Not only does the book lend itself to being a useful resource to dip into when you need to find out about a condition or illness, it is also immensly readable and has already expanded my knowledge on many areas I was not aware of.

Be prepared though - if you are planning on just dipping in here or there, you may well be sucked into a whole new world and then find yourself clearing the store cupboards of the usual junk and hitting the shops to restock with far healthier alternatives. The advantage being this time you know why your buying certain foods and what the benefits are that will follow.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who needs a one stop bible for all food and health issues - and that might just be most of us!

Not what I expected 15 May 2011
By Sweety
Format:Paperback
I bought this book because of the good reviews and because I agree with Gillian McKeith's vision on food, however I expected something totally different. It is said to be her most comprehensive book out there but it just explains what you should eat according to the condition you have (conditions are ranked from A to Z, e.g. if you're constipated, go to "C" and you'll find how to solve your problem by eating the right food). I wish it contained more info on why particular food is healthier than other.
I liked the small "You are what you eat cookbook" a lot better!
