5.0 out of 5 stars A joy to use 20 Jan 2013

I have had this laptop for little over a day now and it is an absolute joy to use, I will focus on several elements in turn.

The screen: I am not normally a fan of matte screens, but this screen is very well done and is a pleasure to use, the resolution and colour definition are great. The automatic brightness works reasonably well in most environments, but the brightness changing throughout use may annoy some users.

Build quality: This is a very well put together laptop, the lid is made of brushed aluminium and the base and keyboard/trackpad deck are made of a plastic, which still feels solid and surely contributes to the light weight of this laptop.

Hardware: Gigabyte pack a lot of bang for your buck into this laptop, an Ivybridge I7 processor from Intel as well as a 2GB dedicated GPU from Nvidia couple with 8GB RAM mean that this laptop will rip through some of the most demanding of tasks with relative ease. Further to this, this particular model ships with a 128GB solid state hard drive, with a secondary hard drive of 750GB also included within the laptop for storage purposes.

Future upgrade: This laptop is capable of supporting 16GB of RAM, with access granted to the laptop memory granted from the bottom of the laptop.

Ports: 1 x Ethernet, 1 x VGA, 2 x USB 2.0, microphone input, headphone output, charger, 1 x HDMI, 2 x USB 3.0 and 1 x SD card input slot.

Keyboard: The keyboard is similarly styled to it's Mac competitors and is actually very nice to use with each key being individual instead of clumped together like most other laptop keyboards.

Weight: It is clear the primary concern in this laptop was performance and as such the weight of 1.

1.0 out of 5 stars Too many hardware issues 10 Sep 2013

The webcam flickers under low light.
The screen has a strong screen-door effect.

I was glad to buy it with 2 years worldwide warranty until I had to use the warranty after hardware failure.
The big issue is absolutely low quality warranty service. They are slow and simply do not reply to my emails, even though I have been very polite and patient.
They sent the laptop back to me with a downgraded CPU. They promised me to reimburse the fee for second shipment (it is normally customer duty), I am still waiting for it.
Now I have a hardware failure again. Absolutely no response from the laptop. I am afraid to send it to warranty service again.

My worst purchase ever
