Product Features

  • The irons contain ceramic heaters which are the same size as the plates and ensure that the plates are heated evenly, meaning there are no hot spots
  • The unique ceramic heaters are double plated with a platinum wire embedded in between the plates and fired at 1400°C
  • The irons have a built in microprocessor which is totally unique and regulates the temperature 5 times a second, which is shown by the flashing LED
  • The control circuitry means that the irons retain maximum heat throughout the styling process
  • Other irons often use PTC or copper wound elements which are less efficient at emitting infra red and negative ions and can dry out or damage hair
  • The GHD iron removes unwanted moisture but will not take out the essential moisture and oils needed for healthy hair
  • The irons emit a large proportion of infra-red heat and produce negative ions both of which are less damaging to the hair and create shine by closing the cuticle

I have, in the past, bought a few different hair straighteners, cheaper ones than GHD and they just aren't good enough. They don't get hot enough and you have to go down your hair quite a few times and still it hasn't got that super straight, polished look like in the salon. Lucky me had these GHD straighteners bought for my birthday and they are brilliant! They are so quick and easy to use and light to handle (important for me as I have rheumatoid arthritis). The old ones I had didn't clamp shut and hold your hair firmly as the GHD do, I had to press them together, the GHD ones hold your hair firmly and straighten it effortlessly. You just switch on and in just 7 seconds they are up to temp and your hair steams like it does at the hairdresser-my hair never steamed with any of my cheaper straighteners and because you get the steam you really feel like it is doing something, ie. you are ironing your hair. My hair felt much smoother, silkier and looked much shinier with these brilliant straighteners and I hadn't had to go over and over it as with the old straighteners, just run them down once and that's all I needed-I suppose if you've got really frizzy or curly hair you may need a couple of goes down a section? The price may seem a bit steep, but, if you've bought straighteners at £30 then some others at £40 then some totally useless travel straighteners for £30 in the quest for the ideal straightener then you might as well have just bought the GHD in the first place and have done with it.
These straighteners are sold through Amazon by a third party seller so I thought I should tell you about this. Having experience of Amazon's excellent service I did wonder a bit before I plunged for these as venus hair design would be dealing with the sale (who I hadn't heard of anyway). I needn't have worried because their service was excellent: My straighteners were ordered Sunday evening, despatched Monday and I received them before noon Tuesday. They were well packed, no bulges or damages and Venus Hair Design had included a pack of 12 complimentary sectioning clips and charged no postage at all where Amazon quoted £5.00 p+p, this was all a very pleasant surprise and as a result of this I looked on their website and found they do the GHD iron oil for use with straighteners and I wouldn't hesitate to order something like this from them because I was so pleased with the service on this occasion.

As the owner of some unfortunately curly celtic locks I was amazed by the results of this straightener. I have tried many different products and these are categorically the best. They only take about 1 minute to warm up and you don't have to go back over the same bit of hair (unlike a lot of previous irons I've tried) . As the tongs are ceramic they don't "stick" to your hair. Also are really quick so it is suitable for a weekday morning before work when you are working against the clock (with the genetic betrayal that is your hair heritage) One word of caution though, they get super hot v quickly so be careful when working around your face. A Top tip is you can also use them for curling like when you "curl" a gift wrap ribbon by taking a small section of hair and curling against the hair you get a super curly section. Overall these are the best product I've ever tried for curly hair, and worth the (gulp) money.

These straighteners are brilliant. They maintain excellent heat. You do however need to be very careful if you let children use them. In fact I would not recommend them for anyone under say 14 due to the high level of heat generated. They straighten my very long thick wavy hair with ease making it sleak, straight, shiny and manageable. GHD will cost more than other straighteners on the market - but the GHD's work where others don't (I've tried them!), therefore if you have thick, long, curly or very strong, stubborn hair it would be a false economy to use anything else
