For some reason, I was expecting felt picks to be soft and bendy. In fact they're stiff as board.
Also, the square edges mean there's a slight scratchy sound to the attack.
However, with a bit of brute force they can be massaged into a slight bendiness, and the edges can be softened a little by scraping with a fingernail. This produces a much better, mellower attack sound.
However, I still prefer the cleaner sound of an ordinary plastic pick on my ukelele - e.g., a guitar .73.
(It maybe that the felt picks need to be worn in a lot more to produce their best sound, but at the moment I don't really see the point, pardon the pun.)
