Needed some speakers to boost the sound on my ePad when wife and I are in the caravan and use it to watch a movie or use it around the house as a web radio. These looked promising for 7 quid so gave them a go.Wanted something that was neat and self contained i.e. a one piece and these are.
An iPod should fit in the front slot and onto a 3.5mm plug coming out of the plastic at the bottom. I use a plug/socket extension lead on this to connect to my ePad. Could also plug into my Samsung P3 or anything if I wanted.
The case is quite solid and should not break easily, though I wonder about the battery cover, it might become loose. It stands upright on a flat firm surface, but falls over on a bed say. Fairly flat so packs easily for travel or storage. There is room behind the battery cover to store my short 3.5mm lead, even with batteries in, handy. There is not an iPod connector so it will not charge an iPod. There are no volume or tone controls, so need to adjust on player. Sound is quite clear and detailed in the mid range, seems minimal distortion so is easy on the ears. Bass is, of course, rather light, laws of physics not being bent here! Goes just loud enough for gentle listening in a room, but nowhere near rock loud. OK for a 2 x 3Watts and a small case.
No batteries provided, but says on box that they are. Not meant to come with an adapter (9V), but I already have a suitable one and intend to use mainly batteries.
In Technical Details it says 'USB - yes'? there is nothing USB about these speakers!
All in all, just about does the job for me at a bargain price.
