At last micromusic available on dvd!!!!if you were fortunate enough like me to attend this concert, you'll remember how good and how emotional it was.Gary had announced that this would be his last ever live set and he would cease touring.he has since openly admitted that this was probably his worse music career move and sales of his records slowly dwindled and he went out of the limelight.Fortunately Gary has now completely re-invented himself and has become one of the most influential artists, with his songs being covered by N.I.N and St.etienne to name but a few.
I owned the VHS for many years which has seen better days,so was really excited when this was released.its packaged in its original release cover.its been remastered and i must say its the best ive seen it look.ok granted it isn't HD.but it has that filmed on video feel which by no means a bad thing. what's wonderful about this is the Tim Summerhayes re-mastered audio which sounds stunning! All Gary's hits are included, cars.are friends electric, etc.a one hour interview with Gary is also included which is really informative.
If your a fan of Numans old or new music? This is an essential purchase.
Gary we salute you.

5.0 out of 5 stars An artist in full bloom 29 Dec 2010
To anyone who might be interrested in one of the most unlikely top selling acts ever, here is Gary Numan at his absolute best, with no expense spared, and nothing but artistic content in mind. As a pinoeer for synth pop, it is hard to overrate his influence. Here you can experience why. Numan himself was (in his own words) uncomfortable with knowing very little about songwriting, and this was his goodbye to touring to get to the studio and concentrate on learning. Whatever he did, he couldn't help that after two more splendid albums, Dance and I, Assassin, he was artistically emptied, and after that, he only rarely wrote a good song. In his tours nowadays, a lot of the old details, especially in the bass playing, has been replaced with random grooving. A true genius in his time, but he has failed to recreate himself as the great artist he once was. And Numan, if you are reading this, your songwriting was flawless back then... nothing to learn, only to explore...

4.0 out of 5 stars GOOD WITH RESERVES 2 Oct 2011
By JUAN MARTIN GABASTOU VINE VOICE
The music on this dvd is fantastic; Numan at his prime, captured on video on his Farewell Tour in '81, clocking at two hours of fantastic showmanship. The filming is odd in that it shows a lot of the man and the stage, but the musicians are rarely seen which is a bummer.

The packaging is beautiful with an inner booklet but it was advertised by Gary Numan as the original master tapes with extra footage and ended up being a plain laserdisc-to-dvd transfer with just a filter to smooth out the grain in the footage. The sound, on the other hand, if excellent, is that of the remastered cd in synch with the video but its bitrate is only of 192 kbps in dolby digital stereo. Why not LPCM ? Or at least DD but with a higher bitrate ? It would have been a nice treat !!

The dvd is a 7.5 Gb dual layer but the concert only takes up a meagre 5 Gb, and the rest is a 60' nice but forgettable interview with Gary from several years ago, so there's little effort put on this release.

Do I feel cheated ? No; it's an OK product and a must-have for us Numos and don't get me wrong, I'll treasure and enjoy this forever but it could have been so much better. In this way, it's just an improved replacement for our worn-out VHS tape of the concert, but I'm all for seeing glasses half full so I'm happy with it. Nothing is perfect, and this is a perfect example of that, pun intended.
