I bought a couple of these after a pair of squirrels started eating the plastic feeders that had survived the two previous summers. After 3 weeks, I still haven't seen a squirrel attempt to get at them and only seem to raid my neighbours now. We get a variety of finches and tits and they soon got to use them.
Unfortunately there is a new pest - Jackdaws, one manages to hang on the loops underneath and pull the seed out while another 10 or so sit below to catch the windfall! I am trying various bits of wood to try and block them and still give the small birds access.

I wanted a squirrel proof feeder that woodpeckers could get into so the cage ones were no use.
This one worked brilliantly for a while and we great displays of woodpeckers. The squirrels eventually worked out how to get to the cage with the peanuts in and eventually worked it loose. My daughter witnessed them running off into the woods with it and I havent seen it since!

I have had several bird feeders raided and/or destroyed by squirrels but this one is brilliant. I've only seen one squirrel have a go, he failed miserably and hasn't tried again as far as I know. The birds love it and I love watching out for them. It has to be positioned as per the instructions which makes it difficult for me to re-fill it, but I am short! I would highly recommend this feeder.

Have had this in my garden for eighteen months now and despite numerous assaults, all very amusing, not once has a squirrel succeeded.

Many times I have watched them try and fail. Indeed their attempts provides a uniquely fascinating entertainment of it's own.

Having persistently failed to access the feeder direct they have completely given up on that approach and instead try to chew the plastic tubing above it, presumably in an attempt to break the whole thing apart. But such is the strength of the material that even after frequent and prolonged gnawing I can barely see any sign of teeth marks.

The squirrels did get lucky on one occasion - when the string I used to fix the hook to the branch snapped. This brought the feeder crashing down, allowing them a feeding frenzy. Needless to say I now use heavy duty twine instead. Fortunately the squirrels have yet to work out that this remains it's weakest link.

I chose this rating on behalf of my birds because I know this is what they think! They had been pestered by a squirrel who stole most of their food and broke previous feeders - he can't break this one and it has been good to see him completely baffled and given up!

...all they have to do is climb up the pole supporting the bracket from which the Feeders hangs!!

This device would have to hang from a bracket longer than the length of a Squirrel's leap to be effective!!!

...or hang a long way out on a convenient tree branch - if you've got one.

This is only effective if the Squirrels have to climb DOWN on to the device.

Otherwise it's just a regular small Bird Feeder.
