Lap Cat
Every iBook comes with Mac OS X Tiger, the latest release of the world’s most advanced operating system. Tiger boasts more than 200 new features, including Spotlight, the lightning-fast search tool that lets you find anything on your system as fast as you type, and Dashboard, the home to handy widgets that access timely information such as train timetables or TV schedules (Train timetables or TV schedule widgets are not included with Mac OS X Tiger, but are available from third parties via free download). Tiger turns your iBook into a finely-tuned instrument that lets you focus on the tasks at hand, whether you’re syncing tunes to your iPod, creating a family photo album with iPhoto or playing the latest 3D games.
You Can Take It with You
Built-in wireless capability on every iBook G4 means you can work or play anywhere. With AirPort Extreme technology fitted as standard, the iBook can surf the Web in any Wi-Fi hot spot, from hotels to coffee houses. With an AirPort Extreme or AirPort Express Base Station in your home or office, you can get online from the comfort of your sofa. And the included Bluetooth 2.0+EDR module lets you connect wirelessly to a wide range of peripheral devices, from mobile phones to wireless keyboards. The iBook also offers an incredible six hours of battery life, so it keeps going as long as you do.
As the lightest all-in-one consumer notebook on the market, the 12.1-inch iBook G4 weighs in at a mere 2.2 kg (4.9 pounds). The 14.1-inch model weighs just 2.7 kg (5.9 pounds). Many textbooks weigh more than either one. The iBook G4 is thin, too — a svelte 3.42 cm (1.35 inches), to be exact — making this impressive notebook small enough to fit in a backpack and light enough to carry around all day.
Take a Scroll
Scrolling through Web pages or large documents on a trackpad can challenge even the most nimble fingers. That’s why every iBook G4 features a new trackpad with scrolling capability. Just drag two fingers over the trackpad to scroll vertically and horizontally or pan around any active window. Change this feature to suit your needs: customise your trackpad settings or turn off scrolling completely via System Preferences.
Fall for iBook
Now every iBook G4 is equipped with Apple’s Sudden Motion Sensor to help protect your most valuable asset: your data. The Sudden Motion Sensor senses change in axis position and accelerated movement. In the event of a drop or fall, the Sudden Motion Sensor instantly parks the hard drive heads so they won’t scratch the disks on impact, lessening the risk of damage and improving your chances of retrieving valuable data. When the Sudden Motion Sensor senses your iBook G4 is once again level, it unlocks the hard drive heads automatically.
An Impressive Display
Both iBook models offer brilliant 1024-by-768 pixel resolution — ideal for doing everything from working on spreadsheets to displaying your movies and digital pictures in millions of colours. What’s more, the iBook display scales down beautifully, again with millions of colours, for special games and applications optimised for 800-by-600 or 640-by-480 pixel resolutions. And both come powered by an ATI Radeon 9550 graphics processor with 32MB of dedicated video memory and AGP 4x support for dazzling 3D graphics that bring games to life.
So, it's now a windows operating system, but you can buy windows for the mac and lots of downloads and programs run on the mac. The only problem you might have is if you use specific software at work that you need to work on at home, that only works with windows.
It seems to get better and better as you discover new functions and capabilities.
