My books are affectionate send-ups of the traditional British mystery. Death of a Cozy Writer, my first novel and the first book in the St. Just series, won the Agatha Award for best first novel after first winning a Malice Domestic grant. It was also nominated for Anthony and Macavity awards, a Left Coast Crime/Hawaii 5-0 Award (best police procedural), and a David award. It won a Silver Medal IPPY (best mystery/thriller/suspense).
Death of a Cozy Writer also was chosen by Kirkus Reviews as one of the best books of 2008.
The second book in the series is Death and the Lit Chick (April 2009). The third book in the series is Death at the Alma Mater (January 2010).
My short story, appearing in the fourth Chesapeake Crimes anthology, was nominated for a 2011 Anthony Award.
I am currently writing a new series for Thomas Dunne/Minotaur Books, which begins with WICKED AUTUMN (2011). In the U.S., Library Journal named it Debut of the Month (September).
