This was the first film I saw when courting - giving my age away. I've always believed it to be the best of Elvis' films, and have enjoyed watching it again.

GI Blues was Elvis first post-army flick, and is a million miles away from King Creole.
That is not necessarilly a bad thing, as this easy going musical romp features some nice tunes, good acting and some very fun scenes.
Check out the scene where Tulsa (Elvis) and his band are singing in a bar, and a German soldier says 'I'd rather hear the real thing.' He promptly puts Elvis' 'Blue Suede Shoes' on the jukebox, resulting in a fight.
This is a fun film, not near Elvis beat, but very good and enjoyable.

Elvis takes part in a bet to raise enough money to open a nightclub when he gets out of the army. The wager - He has to spend a whole night with Juliet Prowse, a nightclub dancer (good dance routine)who is "icy" within and "hot" without. As things turned out Elvis falls in love with her but watch out for the baby sitting bit and the lullaby - quite a different routine!

This is a great movie and a firm favourite with fans - and was Hollywood's fantasy interpretation of Elvis Presley's army stint in Germany!

Oh, if only life was like that!!

Elvis had released his best movies between 1956 and 1962, and this 1960 musical is one of the more entertaining, and certainly ranks with his best ever.

Elvis as GI Tulsa Mclain takes on a bet to help solve his financial problems. The bet involves wooing the heart of a hot but tough cabaret dancer (Juliet Prowse.) The job at hand however is made more difficult by the assistance of his army buddies - and complicated further by a hungry baby. You'll see what I mean when you watch the film.

The production has a wonderful setting and cast as well as a great soundtrack, with the endearing 'WOODEN HEART' as the world famous standout hit.

Together with Blue Hawaii, this is Elvis' best film of the 1960s, and is essential for your collection. I guarantee you will watch it again and again.

Highly recommended.
