first of all i'll say that im a guitarest so im in heaven automatically with Paul's Heavenly playing, and any other guitarests will be too. the superb blend of effects on most tracks add a real edge to the sound, without overpowering the feel of the music. the opening track sets alone sets a high bar for any instrumentalist, the guitar riffs are cathy, without overdominating the song ("Fuzz Universe") with the tricky scale runs thrown delicatly inbetween, like a delicious sandwhich, the riffs act as the bread providing a great substance and with the solos and scale runs making a superb filling, inviting anyone from a guitarest to a music lover into his world.
as well as delicatly placed effects providing a thin layer of sound above the leads the drums and organs (the latter recorded by paul's wife) also add a great essence to the album. another great continuation of paul's style is the subtle changes in style, adopting cool satraini based riffs and then changing to a chunkey 80s style riff for the title track. and as for the effects great scoops of wah wah, octave, fuzz, flanger, chorus and others are chucked into the mix like a fine craftsman creating a masterpiece.
Overall this Album is superb, the ony problem being my biased opinion, which is based off my love of guitar. i honestly dont know if non musicians will love this as much as i did but i know any guitarest will LOVE this, regardless of there prefered genres. this really is the most "listenable" album by Paul Gilbert so far, allowing the listener to lie back and quietely take in the magic of Paul.
