Product Description

Top international organisations including UBS and the World Bank have consulted Patrick Dixon on how to ‘future proof’ their work. Now his ground breaking financial and ethical discoveries are available to a wider audience in Futurewise.

As the millennium approaches, everyone wants to know what the future holds. On an individual, corporate and world scale, how society changes will affect us all profoundly. Make the wrong choice and the results could be devastating.

Patrick Dixon considers six faces of the future in Futurewise as if they are the faces of a cube. The world will be Fast, Urban, Tribal, Universal, Radical and Ethical (a new morality). He explains the practical results of these including everything from the hours in the working week to artificial pregnancies. From business planning on a company scale to choices about a personal pension, these changes will have an impact on everyone. Wealth, health, cultures, technology, travel, morality – all are considered in this major new study.

Also very easy to read compared with other books on the same subject matter.

Are You Ready For The Future? 19 April 2000
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
Dr Dixon has defined six "faces" of global change that he identifies as being: Fast, Urban, Tribal, Universal, Radical and Ethical. When we take the first letter of each of these faces of change, we derive the word FUTURE. Fast - with technological advancement we are seeing the deployment of information at speeds that are now measured in microseconds. Trends are becoming more unpredictable because of the FAST nature at which the key trend indicators now move. Urban - As the world's population grows, more and more people are drawn to the life in the big smoke - ie. cities. With a predicted increase in population by some 3 billion extra people - the concept of the megacity, which are now prevalent especially in Asia, are becoming more and more a reality but on a wider scale.

The book goes on to explain the other faces of change. What are the choices for us now that we need to at least consider for the future? How does this affect your career? What about your family and your children? What are your plans for the future?

If you drift through life and just accept change without really knowing that change is happening, then you must read this book. Be one step in front of change, rather than be gobbled up by the rapid global change that is happening right before our eyes.

Are you ready for the future?

I love having a model to make things develop from. The FUTURE model is great to take hold of the paradoxes contained in every second's "todays world".
