5.0 out of 5 stars like a dream 19 Jan 2006
Format:Audio CD
I couldn't stand by and see this album with a one star rating. Not only is that wrong, but it's offensive too. I also saw them at ATP, and it was a fantastic performance. There are definitely elements of drone in the songs, but don't let this put you off, it's more the laid back drone qualities associated with shoe-gaze bands of the nineties. There are also the feedback drenched soundscapes offered up by Sonic Youth. These are pretty bad likenesses I am aware, and in no way are they just a copy of the mentioned bands, but you can get a good idea from the comparison.
There are some quality gems on this album; Turnstile Blues slow build until it explodes with a mass of feedback before leading into a Flaming Lips-esque riff. Eugene's dreamy vocals so reminiscent of Thurston Moore or even Sean Lennon. Carla's sweet voice is just...well it's just sweet.
The playing on this album is so incredibly tight I can't fault it, the guitars are fantastic, the drumming is sublime. I can always come back to this album and it always seems fresh, it's just a beautiful album.

5.0 out of 5 stars Autlicious 12 Aug 2005
Format:Audio CD
Here we go with another cool American band, this time hailing from the streets of Los Angeles. Signed in the US to the DMZ label, a label created by the geniuses Ethan and Joel Coen (makers of The Big Lebowski, Fargo and Raising Arizona), this 3 piece are responsible for one of the most sonically beautiful albums of the year.
Combining the cacophony of Sonic Youth and My Bloody Valentine with an enduring sense of cool, tracks like the haunting 'Angry Candy' and 'Subzero Fun' mark 'Future Perfect' out as a near perfect album that'll suck you in for days on end.
One of the most fulfilling, moorish records of the year. Go buy it now!

5.0 out of 5 stars Genius.. 24 Jan 2006
Format:Audio CD
I bought this after hearing a few songs and after a year of getting around to it. I can simply say that I wish I'd bought it sooner because it's an album that blows your mind away. I don't quite think I've heard anything like them before and they are definitely a band who I'd go to see because the album has made a great impression on me. I can see them as a band that most people can like and appreciate.
Do your bit and buy it. :-)
