Oh well, it had to happen. Futurama Season 8 was released to end the series for good. Ever since I started watching it on Channel 4 which was quite a few years ago, I've loved this quirky, crazy, nutty, and sometimes rather bonkers cartoon series. All 13 episodes are marvelous, and they help to keep the viewer interested from start to finish. Add to the fact every episode is just over 21 minutes long in length, and you have the minimal ingredients for each episode. So it's goodbye Futurama, as I have all 8 Seasons, the 4 feature-length movies, and a sort-of "best of" dvd, but I'll say this much for this review... Futurama was wonderful for its time and will be missed so much by all of its devoted followers!!! I loved it, and Matt Groening and David X Cohen should be proud of their creation. After all who knows what life will be like in 1000 years time? Watch this cartoon as it may give you some answers.

As another huge Futurama fan, thus owning all 8 seasons (including The Collected Epics DVD) I will miss it. It has had a good run and the developers should be proud. I will always love the fun with the gang (Fry, Leela, Bender, Professor Farnsworth, Hermes and Zoidberg) plus all the other additional characters that vacate the episodes from time to time. Go forth, Futurama. Also - ALL HAIL THE HYPNOTOAD.

The final season of Futurama, one of the greatest animated comedies of all time, is here.
I have thoroughly enjoyed Futurama since it started on Channel 4 all those years ago. This 2 disc set contains the final 13 episodes.
Unfortunately, some of Futurama's weaker episodes are in this set, particularly disc one. None are terrible, but alot are lacking laughs. 'Fry and Leela's Big Fling' is exceptional though. On disc 2 things pick up - 'Game Of Tones' was a punch in the gut and a reminder of why I love this show so much and how moving it can be.
The final episode (the fourth time there's been a final episode!) 'Meanwhile' is a quiet and very different feeling episode, but a lovely end to the show which also happens to leave things perfectly open if the show returns.

This set comes with a nice cardboard sleeve and four art-cards. Plenty of features included such as deleted scenes and commentaries for each episode

Great to have more Futurama. It's not the same with the smaller writing team, the shows are less layered with simpler premises than in its heyday. That said, it's still great value entertainment, thoroughly enjoyable with plenty of laughs. Well worth watching.

The show still has great, if not greater visuals than the original run had, thanks to the advancement of animation. With 1080p and DTS-Master Audio sound, nothing is really bad with the bluray itself.
However I must admit seeing the episodes now, without the excitement of them being new, they don't really hold up to the standard set by the original run. Like in the most of the Comedy Central run episodes, there is too much references to modern day happenings and social media. e.g. Facebook. The first episode production wise is about Bender's aspiration to be a folk singer. I thought he gave up completely after "Bendin' in the Win", not to mention Fry's horribly portrayed (in the script - not by Billy West), constantly whining.
The good news, everyone, is that the quality increases slighty over the course of the half season with especially "Murder.." and Meanwhile being enjoyable, being on par with the some of the better episodes of season 6a (Volume/"Season" 5).

p.s. Were we supposed to get the other four art cards with this bluray set, considering I have those that came with Season 7? d.s.
