More About the Author

As the only girl on all guys hockey teams from age six through her college years, Coreene Callahan knows a thing or two about tough guys and loves to write about them. Call it kismet. Call it payback after years of locker room talk and ice rink antics, but whatever you call it, the action better be heart stopping, the magic electric, and the story wicked, good fun.

After graduating with honors in psychology and working as an interior designer, she finally succumbed to her overactive imagination and returned to her first love: writing. And when she's not writing, she's dreaming of magical worlds full of dragon-shifters, elite assassins, and romance that's too hot to handle. Callahan currently lives in Canada with her family and writing buddy, a fun-loving golden retriever.

About the Author

After growing up as the only girl on an all-male hockey team, Coreene Callahan knows a thing or two about tough guys, and loves to write characters inspired by them. After graduating with honors in psychology, and taking a detour to work in interior design, Coreene finally gave in and returned to her first love: writing. Her debut novel, Fury of Fire, was a finalist in the New Jersey Romance Writers Golden Leaf Contest in two categories: Best First Book and Best Paranormal. She combines her love of romance, adventure and writing with her passion for history in her novels Fury of Fire, Fury of Ice, Fury of Seduction, and Knight Awakened. She lives in Canada with her family, a spirited golden retriever, and her wild imaginary world.

Format: Kindle Edition
In the fourth book of this fantasy series which pairs shape shifting dragon warriors to feisty but often threatened women, there is certainly no change to the format. The Nightfury warriors are on a rescue mission to extract JJ from hospital; none concerned that she has spent the last 5 years serving time for murder. A high energy female like her sister Tania (the heroine from book 3) JJ is bound to attract a dragon; no one expects it to be the taciturn Wick, not even Wick himself who feels JJ deserves far better than what he is.

There isn't as much interaction between JJ and her sister as I would assume; considering how long they'd been apart, but instead each seemed more interested in their dragonkin partner. There also wasn't the level of action found in previous books; it started off with a bang as a race is on to rescue JJ, but petered out when she landed in the safe hands of Wick. I thought the lack of action could be a result of a more introspective plot as both Wick and JJ reveal their past traumas and come to terms with what has happened to them, but the sharing moments lacked real depth and therefore the emotional impact lacked the power I would expect considering what they have both survived. I've raved about this series in the past, and this still remains a good read; it just doesn't have the pizzazz found in previous books.
