The book by Judith Miller. Who is famous for her Miller's Antiques and Collectibles Price Guide, has written a reference masterpiece. Its a 560 page heavyweight tome. that covers from 4000BC to post-modern/contemporary furniture. It highlights not only the history of the different periods, principle designers, movements and schools, it breaks the furniture down simply into the different motifs, features, colours and shapes used. While also graphically illustrating not only the furniture but the nomenclature associated with its parts.
Lavishly illustrated, it works as both a coffee table book and a educational reference book. I highly recommend it along side her book on "Chairs". My only wish after reading it was that it was twice the detail and half the weight.
