4.0 out of 5 stars A GOOD NOVELTY RECORDING 2 Feb 2008
Format:Audio CD
I remember the Barron Knights in the 60's with their medleys of hits re-worded to suit Xmas, The Dole etc.

Being a little apprehensive about buying this Pegasus album, I was delighted to find the circa-1964 recordings were ORIGINAL and not re-recorded. These are the proper Columbia sides that I found quite amusing at the time. They sound a little corny nowadays, but they are all worth a listen again.

Recommended at this bargain price.

5.0 out of 5 stars Funniest Album I've Bought In Years!! 14 Feb 2011
By jerry
Format:Audio CD
I first heard the Barron Knights in the 1960s after hearing 'The Chapel Lead Is Missing' and 'Call Up The Groups' on the radio. I was so pleased to have finally found both of these tracks on one CD and at such a reasonable price. Initially, I only recognised two songs on the CD but all fourteen tracks have come up to the same high standard and are thoroughly amusing and entertaining. I found track 14, 'Come To The Dance' particularly enjoyable. I would recommend this album to any Barron Knights fan. I was also impressed by the speedy and efficient delivery service.

4.0 out of 5 stars Barron Knights revisited 5 Mar 2011
Format:Audio CD|Amazon Verified Purchase
This CD helped to revive my interest in the Barron Knights which started in the 1960's when they used to play on Monday nights at Pauls Pops in Melksham Assemby Hall.
Since my purchase I saw them live in Taunton last night. What entertainment.

4.0 out of 5 stars Only one thing missing....
...their superb Pete Townshend-composed 45 "Lazy fat people".
Otherwise a fine comp of a great group, much better than most of the groups they parodied.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not enough info
There are 2 CDs with different covers that are called "The Best of the Barron Knights" - but not enough info on tracks. "Unfortunately" they are both the same!

5.0 out of 5 stars so so funny
My brother had this on tape in the 1970s, it was funny then and it's still funny now, I laughed so much at some tracks I was almost in tears. I'd highly recommend it.
