What can you say in relation to the gorgeous Ms Streisand, and of course the equally handsome Omar Sharif, when you combine two such forces, it can only go one way - prefection! if you love musicals, especially the ones that actually have renouned singers in the lead role, you won't go wrong with this one. I saw this film many years ago, I can't even remember if it was on T.V. or Video, either way it was a blessing to find it available on DVD - even better its region 2 - not an import!, I class this as a Sunday film, one for all the family - maybe better for older eyes, or young 'wanabee actors/singers eyes', show them how it should be done!, Nice to watch something that doesn't evoke tears of saddness or anger.

It's the first time I've ever seen this picture, and as I'm not a big Streisand fan, I did not think I would be that impressed, but I was pleasantly surprised!

Barbra Streisand is extremely funny as 'Funny Girl' Fanny Brice, and she also plays the sad scenes with equal sincerity. However, the film was spoilt for me at about halfway through, when someone held up a live Lobster to Streisand's character and she responds; 'start boiling water' - call me silly, but this ruined it for me... Why something so horrid should have been brought into a musical and light-hearted film of this type is quite beyond me...

Left a nasty taste in my mouth, and so I could not bring myself to give this five stars...
