Citrus Paridisi Fruit - Pink - tree grown in a 20cm pot. This plant is about 4 years old and at least 40cm high above the pot.
The trees are not currently in fruit and are as seen in the picture.
The grapefruit is originally from the Island of Barbados and is the only citrus which is not of Asian origin. It was brought to the Mediterranean basin in the early 1800's The Grapefruit, named possibly because the fruits are mainly clustered in bunches, produces large fragrant flowers in late spring early summer, followed by green fruit that turn yellow as they ripen, these are edible.
For best results it is wise to keep these plants indoors in frost free conditions, they should be re-potted every two to three years using a free draining soil and prefer regular feeding to produce a healthy tree. These plants will produce fruit more freely with the higher temperatures.
