Book Description

3 Jun 2010
Funky Lunch started out from a very simple place - the desire of a loving father to turn an ordinary lunchtime sandwich into something a bit different in order to encourage his children to eat a varied and healthy lunch. Its creator, Mark Northeast, thought it would be fun to post a few pics on the web and start a blog. But then he got spotted by the PR for the Metro group of newspapers and then the Daily Mail, and then the rest of the world's press and then came an appearance on ITV's This Morning and then commissions for BBC's Children in Need and even an appearance on Blue Peter. Every parent knows how stressful meal times can be. Young minds need inspiring and this is exactly what Funky Lunch sets out to do. The book features many of the very best Funky Lunch sandwich ideas, from simple farmyard creatures and cucumber crocodiles to favourite characters from the world of children's TV, as well as some fun and creative interactive spreads to help get the little ones involved in choosing and making their own lunch.

4.0 out of 5 stars cute presentation ideas 16 Oct 2011
Format:Hardcover
I bought this book to get more inspiration for my son's lunchbox. While all sandwiches look very cute and aren't difficult to execute, I think they are more for serving at home as some might get messed up in a lunchbox (alien sandwich for example) unless you adapt them a little. Also the book doesn't suggest any fillings, which would have been a plus. I've tried a few tho, and they were always a success so will keep using it.

5.0 out of 5 stars A gem of a book! 8 Feb 2013
Format:Hardcover
I bought this book after seeing an adorable feature on This Morning. The book was great value and has offered a platform for me spending fun, quality (and healthy!) time in the kitchen with my kids (Age 4 & 7). There are some fiddly bits but the majority on the 'recipes' can be assembled by little hands and fingers! The kids really enjoy eating what they have made ...which is a bonus with the whole 5-a-day thing! I would recommend this to anyone who is tired of the monotony of chocolate rice crispy buns!!! Ha

4.0 out of 5 stars Interesting book 19 April 2013
Format:Hardcover|Amazon Verified Purchase
Lovely pictures, brilliant ideas, but I still can't get my son to eat anything from it. He is a very fussy eater. If i make (for example) the monkey sandwhich, he likes it, he plays with it, makes monkey noises at it - but won't eat it.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not really recipes
This book I found a bit misleading as it's not really about fun lunches with different ingredients but about shapes you can cut bread into. My son (4) enjoyed the pictures though.
